Just to let you know that you can no longer send free texts nationally via eSeMeS.co.uk
  • Mentioned in the "send free texts online" article - this DID work at one stage, but there is now a message on their website stating that they have recently had to close the service...
  • my problem with those sites is that they may charge the recipient and not always know about it. so be careful of using them without the other side knowing you are sending messages.

The orange one is definitely working

    the main article includes this:
If you're a T-Mobile customer, you can send texts online from anywhere in the world for the price of a standard message. So, if you've got unlimited texts, it won't cost you a penny to make a text while abroad. Just register and log-in to My T-Mobile to send a text.

i have 2 t-mob accounts (linked as one logon), both accounts have unlimited texts. however, they are adamant that their free web text was discontinued some time ago and that i was only able to continue using the service as one of the contracts was an old one. as soon as we updated it, no more web texts!
Switzerland has Dignitasthe UK has DCA's, Bankers and Lawyers.

Thanks to all who flagged that eSeMeS.com is no longer working - I have updated the guide now :)

Hi Halifax_sux, I'm not sure why you've been told that the service has been discontinued - the "Send webtext" service is definitely still on the T-Mobile site, and there's a video on how to use it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Mk8Wpj8Epc&feature=player_embedded

Please let us know if you have any further problems!

Read the main article with great interest and was disappointed to see no mention of texting will roaming.
FYI I did a quick test of sending one SMS while in the USA [turn on cellular data, compose and send SMS using jellbean, turn off cellular data] and o2 say I used 128KB of data costing £0.75

    Hi all,
I travel the the US for work a few times a year, and I want to drop a few texts to let the nearest and dearest know I'm still alive out there! I used to use CBFSMS.com, until being told I have breached their usage policy and can no longer use from my IP?! Very strange, as I only use the service 2/3 times a year, and probably no more than a dozen times on each visit... I tried using the sendsmsnow.com site as per the article, but there doesn't appear to be an option to text UK mobiles.... Any ideas on a spam/cost free online text service from US to UK mobiles? Thanks in advance!!

I know this is pretty old now, but any advice on sending texts cheaply or even better for free to the US? The person I want to text doesn't have a smartphone if that's any help to you

Be aware that WhatsApp is only free as a trial for the first year, although at just $0.99 per year after it's hardly going to break the bank.
