Don't take this the wrong way - but I'm glad someone else doesn't like going to new groups etc. I always feel I'm the only one in the world who can't do this (like I was off sick the day they taught this skill at school, or something)
You've inspired me to keep going. In some ways it'd be easier if I could just sit in the corner by myself - but that's not really an option. I'm not a complete wally!
I like my corner all to myself - I watch the mums in the playground chatting away and wonder how they do it - I stand on the outskirts and watch.....I'm very happy in my own company though and love being at home so maybe that's it - maybe I put up a defensive barrier to guard people off.....who knows.

Its cold, windy and raining here, very miserable indeed, I have to fetch kids in a while from school, then make the effort to go into town and sort this council court business out.

Take care for now
And catch you later

Very true Pooky! Glad you can't all see my kitchen - though today it's relatively spic and span.
Off to brave the playground - need to dig DD out of bed, shove her in her buggy and then see what DS is going to moan about tonight. He'll be tired from his first day back so there'll be something I've done wrong. thanks! still thinking about it - at the moment ive got tefal non-stick which are great!!! - BUT they have been scratched etc by going in the DW - I know they are supposed to be DW safe but they dont look so good now!
wondering whether to try the new compact ones or try stainless steel0 -
Just a quickie from work (first day back).
dlb - sorry to hear about the dreaded pox etc. I know someone who had adult chickenpox and wasn't too bad. The doctor says there are different strains of the virus (just like colds) and things can manifest differently depending on what strain. When kids were wee the type they had was that as it passed from one child to next in family each case was worse. This certainly was the case with my two.
Valentine - hope scan goes really well.
Best wishes to everyone else.

Hello all,
Back at work today for first time after christmas and putting off tackling the in-box.
Catowen- and others who said the same- so glad to hear there are others out there who think this too! I moved to a new town a couple of years ago and well meaning friends and family kept telling me to join various clubs and societies to meet new people but eek! couldn't force myself to start chatting to new ppl and spent far too much time in the corner!
Started a post-holidays detox today but already regretting it, think I will be gnawing the table soon!!
Well wishes to all of those who are ill... why does it always seem to come around after a holiday or break from work/school??

UGH!!! I have just had to throw quite a lot of food out, because its out of date. Namely, 2 x 1.2kg packs of chicken drumsticks and 600g mince. I am such an idiot. It only went out of date yesterday, but the chicken stinks, so in the bin it goes. I know what happened - last time I went shopping, I bought quite a lot of food, and the chicken I thought I would put one pack in the freezer - got home, the damn thing was full, so I figured we would just have to eat it all a bit quicker. Didnt happen, instead I just left it and it rotted in the fridge. I will not make this mistake again. Oh, for a freezer thats bigger than a shoebox. We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0

We all (DH and four DDs) went to a memorial service this morning for my father at the hospice and it was very comforting.
Will make a chilli with rice for tonight and am typing this in the library.
PP Sorry you have shingles and hope it gets better soon.
Best wishes to all those with poorly men and children."This site is addictive!"
