Mystery mail order delivery

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I arrived home this evening to find a parcel had been delivered from a catalogue company, K&Co. It was addressed to me, and contained a pair of ankle boots in my size, but with a higher heel than I usually wear. Problem is: I never ordered them.

The thing is, I don't buy from the catalogue companies. I'd certainly never buy a pair of shoes without trying them on first - I've got fussy feet. I doubt they're a present - they were addressed to me in my maiden name not my married one and I only use my maiden name for work.

I've checked my credit cards, Paypal and the bank and there are no strange transactions.

If it was yarn or a book or something from Lakeland, I could imagine making a purchase absent mindedly, but not shoes. And I wouldn't forget about making it.

I've phoned the help-line and got a number to call tomorrow.

Are K & Co not one of those QVC online sellers? Could someone in your household have ordered via the remote control?

I have no idea if they're on QVC or not. I don't think I've ever watched it.

Not likely. DH is more frugal than I am. (No kids or lodgers.) He hasn't any idea either, except possibly card fraud.

  • Phone tomorrow and make sure no-ones opened an account in your name (very odd if it's your maiden name too if you only use this for work).

I've heard of this happening (not K&Co) and people set up false accounts with a small value order, and usually try to "intercept" the parcel (thinking you'll be at work).

Once this works, they order a big amount .....

    Hi Jane,

This is a problem that sometimes comes up on our Consumer Rights board, so I'll move the thread across for you.

K&Co are what used to be Kays, Great Universal and Empire catalogues.
  • Hi,

you could try signing in, to see if any other transactions on the account, there will be an account number on the invoice.

You will need to try and guess the password, or use the forgotten password link.
