I had the Tesco salesman over yesterday. He didn't seem to understand what my concerns were (will the hinges fall off after x years) and then droned on about the look of the kitchen (I am not fussy). He also tried to get additional work which I didn't want and summarised my needs as 'cheap' as I only wanted the cabinets replaced. I wasn't convinced.....
I will see what the quote is (if one comes through) but prefer to pay more and get something that exactly meets my needs through a joiner. The appliances will all be free standing so easy & cheap to replace:cool:
And why did Tesco man want to replace my kitchen lights? I can do that myself!0 -
Received the quote yesterday from Tesco 12k (and it is not even a big kitchen!):rotfl:. Reminds me of the time I wanted fitted wardrobes and the fitted wardrobe person quote was 3k for mdf stuff whilst...the local carpenter knocked one up for us for less than £1k in solid wood which we loved0

i have recently had a tesco kitchen installed (the genoa) its beautiful. Tesco orinally started off quoting £11.5K for my averaged sized space i haggled and thought i'd done really well getting the price down to £7.5 K I paid tesco a deposit and got booked in,until i saw on a review forum that a company called cut price kitchens use exactly the same kitchens. Both tesco and cut price just sell the same kitchen the actual supplier and distributer is mark 2. I rang cut price kitchens and they verified that yes indeed mark 2 distribute their kitchens it wasnt called the genoa they called it the glacier, i got them to price up my kitchen haggled a bit and the exact same kitchen through cut price kitchens would have cost £4.5 K. Admitidly tescos did include the dry fit ....so just the units no plumbing electrics gas etc but nethertheless a £3K difference was unbelivable. Anyway I rang tesco to cancel the order and insist on my deposit back this was agreed. However within hours of cancelling my order tesco called me back agreed to price match cut price kitchens and throw in a free dishwasher plus tripple clubcard points. So i stuck with tesco in the end. Oginally tesco said they dont do supply only but when they realised they would loose the order they clearly changed their mind. So I now have a stunning kitchen that i am very happy with ....just watch tesco and their prices clearly their 'every little helps' ethos doesnt apply to their kitchens ! so although i used tesco i would rather have gone straight to cut price kitchens, they were incredibly helpful and i wouldnt hesitate to use them !0

Very soon, there will onmly be one brand on the High Street and that will be Tesco.
they are dominating the market in almost every business - white goods, electricals, phones, opticians, they are even now selling cars and houses.
Soon, because everyone is obsessed with Tesco there will be no choice and all the independent retailers and businesses will simply be on the dole.
What would I really like? Tesco clubcard vouchers or a choice of suppliers and retailers? Difficult one that.
I'm going to send The chairman of Tesco's a Dildo so that he can go F*** himself.
as much as i dislike tesco , it's up to other companies to take them on , when sainsburys were the number one supermarket i think they were under the impression that they would never be caught and stood still whilst tesco steamrollered past them0 -

I am finally getting some issues with my Tesco kitchen finalised.
The design was good and the quality of the units are OK. The installation team were also helpful and professional.
However the Head Office/ Customer Service is a nightmare, emails were not answered or took many days to get a reply, information was not correct when I did get a reply. The wrong Benchtop was delivered and I immediately rang my "Customer Champion", no answer so I sent an email and left a phone message neither of which were responded to. The Help line promised to replace the benchtop with an urgent delivery and said that they would call me back with a delivery date, no further contact or information was forthcoming. The Benchtop arrived a week later, not urgent no concern from the the company. Even the installers could not get an answer from Head Office.
I discovered after fitting that the cupboard doors come with hinge holes on both sides, despite the fact they they know the design and could have supplied the proper fittings. The additional hinge holes were not capped and were basic MDF holes open to any moisture and water damage. The cupboard shelves are fixed (no height adjusting hole) except for the multiple holes in the end panels, this is lack of care and plain stupid. Head Office keep throwing the blame back onto the installers, who can only fit the stuff that is supplied.
Overall the Kitchen is of good quality and looks good, but the non existant communications and lack of help from the head office (Mark 2) mean that I could never recommend this company, it just creates stress and has been an unpleasant experience.
Beware any company that wants 100% payment before delivery or installation, I objected and held back 10% until I was satisfied, I am still not satisfied three weeks after installation, but it looks like some of my issues are being resolved, small things but important things0 -
Your comments on Mark2 are very much similar to my impression of them. We used to source our bathroom ranges via them. Customer service was a complete lottery...they do have some good knowledgable people but if you come across one for gawds sake get their direct line as most of them were a complete and utter waste of time.
One reason why I would be wary about ordering a kitchen from them.0 -
Take it from me, Moben & Kitchens Direct are done and dusted. Gone, Kaput, the fools running that company don't have the intelligence to try and eek into Tesco.
Comments on MarkTwo are unfair. I have dealt with them a lot professionally and they are the best company I deal with. They pay their invoices on time, and they are on top of any customer complaints that they receive.
If it weren't for marktwo, when Homeform group (moben & co) went bust, a hell of a lot of people would have lost a hell of a lot more money if it weren't for the way the MarkTwo worked. Basically Marktwo are a distributors who buy for other companies.
I have no experience of tesco kitchens, so apologies for my post, but I do think in the Kitchen industry, people are very quick to tar people with the homeform brush, and I wanted to stick up for MK2 (no I don't work for them!)
Otherwise, CDA appliances are pretty crappy.0 -
Sure, the people who worked there have to still work somewhere, but what I mean is, the guys who ran the place, owned it, they're gone.
I think car salesman is soon going to be replaced with kitchen salesman!0 -

I think, to be honest the days of drop selling on the night, in the customers home are numbered, thank god! Not least because of Forums like this one:T. Google is my friend and people are now becoming savvy enough to look up information and reviews before choosing who to buy from.0
