Tesco Kitchens

Options
Anyone had any experience of above?

Plan is (perhaps) to convert the cost of a new kitchen into a Virgin holiday with double club card points.

How much is a new kitchen 4x5m room anyway? Ballpark ...

And how on earth can they promise free fitting, aye very good ....

Anyone good at this stuff?

We had them round last week and they planned the kitchen for us. I liked the kitchen design but then they started the hard sell - the guy said because he knew we had children in the house he would knock 1k off the price (if we signed up within 2 days). I hate this kind of thing- I needed time to make my mind up and not feel pressured into it.
The other thing was that they wouldnt tell us the make and model of the appliances we would be getting- I cook alot and want to make sure I have appliances that are up to the mark- not some crappy model they want to get rid of!
Anyway, they quoted us 11k (never got to see a complete breakdown of the costs- top secret!!)- /10k if we signed up there and then.
We have decided to go with Howdens and source our own appliances and pay for our own fitter. We are saving about £500 on the Tesco quote.

We have a very large kitchen- used to be a kitchen/diner- so a normal sized kitchen would probably be about half that!

Just read up on it ... they allocate a project manager ... why on earth would I want to pay a PM's wages ... all I want is a kitchen fitter haha .. think I'll avoid like the plague, it's just another Moben, clearly. Good luck with your Howdens, it makes sense.

Very soon, there will onmly be one brand on the High Street and that will be Tesco.

they are dominating the market in almost every business - white goods, electricals, phones, opticians, they are even now selling cars and houses.

Soon, because everyone is obsessed with Tesco there will be no choice and all the independent retailers and businesses will simply be on the dole.

What would I really like? Tesco clubcard vouchers or a choice of suppliers and retailers? Difficult one that.

I'm going to send The chairman of Tesco's a Dildo so that he can go F*** himself.

Only if people buy from them.

Hopefully people will realise that Tesco are skilled/overpriced con artists and shop elsewhere.

I wouldn't. Next week Tesco will start selling them as well.
I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.
  • If tescos was a little more honest they would put their kitchens in their basic range
  • Thanks for the advice...was considering buying a Tesco Kitchen but this has put me off...I am going to shop around more independent retailers and see what I can find. Also, a lot of people have told me it isn't the kitchen quality as much that matters but the fitting? Is that right? Any advice would love you to share! :-)
  • We've been looking for a new kitchen and had quotes from B&Q, KBBC and Tesco. B&Q were hell bent on telling us what we couldn't have instead of what we could have (making us do all the work!) KBBC promised a bit too much, and the quote was very expensive! The sales guy was quite pushy as well even after I clearly said there was no way we would sign up that night, but the salesman we had from Tesco was excellent! he confirmed some of the things that B&Q told us we couldn't have but came up with alternatives and the price quoted was very good with free fitting and a free dishwasher!. Admittedly we haven't had it fitted yet, but so far all seems good. Yes they offer a 'project manager' but theres no extra cost for this and it doesn't seem to be added into the final price, nor does the fitting (The price we got from KBBC was about £1500 more without fitting!). The appliances they use are made by CDA and whilst not a household name, we were told that Tesco selected them because of their 5 year guarantee (According to the Tesco kitchen website, CDA supply to Centerparcs and recently to Jamie Oliver's Ministry of food project)
Tesco seem very focused on customer service and trying to build the business rather than a huge promotion, getting loads of customers on board and not being able to fulfill. We were told they get a steady stream of customers and are happy to try and build reputation first (they've been going for 2 1/2 years apparently?)
I will repost once things have moved forward a bit, but felt compelled to add another perception of Tesco kitchens (and whilst I don't agree with the multi conglomerate that Tesco is, they do tend to get things right so....fingers crossed!)

Sounds like the same spiel we got....

Problem was they couldnt tell me the model of the appliances we would get- I dont want a free dishwasher if it leaves my dishes dirty!
We were also told they were all about customer service and Tesco would never !!!! their customers off.... problem was a week later they didnt even manage to deliver a £50 online shop so why should I invest 10k with them??!!!

By the way- just wanted to add
Tesco kitchen including appliances- 11k (10k if we signed up there and then)
    Howdens kitchen (same design) -6k
Appliances 1k (choosing my own makes and models)
    Kitchen fitter 1.2k

We are actually saving 1.8k by not using Tesco!
