Mine was bought about 2.15 today.0

I rang my local sainsburys and asked about the 102S- none on the shelves but two showing on the computer. said she couldn't reserve one but would go out the back and find them. I arrived 15 minutes later and the lady had gone home - leaving a message with her handover that they couldn't be found! sooo disappointed - but perhaps they would have come up as full price. showing as out of stock on the website.£216 saved 24 October 20140

picked up one at the Whitly Bay store tonight and it scanned through at £260 ish, I explained to the kind lady about others getting £80 off and she phoned head office who says the error was corrected today, oh well, serves me right for not going this morning

Well done to all that got the deal - I was tempted but resisted as although it would be a good saving, I already have a number of computers so couldn't justify it

The OFFER for these Compaq CQ56 laptops at just £169.99 ended sometime Tuesday mid afternoon .......
... which was the JUST the START of my SAGA
A long story which I'll trim to the basics .... (ALL in-store activity takes place at CS desk)
Went Tuesday about noon - found item on computer system - 3 in stock - checked price = £249.99 - input barcode on till and total - "extra" £80 discount = £169.99
Man dispatched to find actual item in stockroom - few issues locating due to "price" discrepancy when scanning with handheld and not coming up at £169.99 - eventually returned with "£249.99 priced" item that matched my description.
Scanned at till - £80 discount pops up - BINGO :rotfl:
Problem - I'm on motorbike - no way of carrying
Also Nectar card not in my possession - nor latest coupons that dropped through letterbox only days ago offering who knows what ... extra points, £5 off £50 etc. etc. ......
Asks for them to reserve it I'll be back in a couple of hours ... my name written out and stuck to side of box and it's returned to stock room for safety.
Returns home and waits for coupons & card to join me
(with my dear beloved) ...
... which they duly do.
OK not a lot in applicable coupons - just DOUBLE points - but it all helps
HOWEVER I'd NOT planned on using NECTAR points for this laptop, BUT when I found out we had 40,000 points on it - £200 - BINGO ! BINGO ! :rotfl:
Returns to store about 15:55, laptop (WITH my name on it) retrieved from stockroom and scanned on till
£249.99 - NO £80 DISCOUNT -
CS SA is replaced from a lovely sweetheart that had been there at noon with a RIGHT BATTLEAXE at 16:00
ALL BUT CALLED ME A LIAR regards £169.99 price saying impossible.
I said ask previous CS SA - but she had gone home
I said get "stock room store man" - he had seen it earlier.
She just kept quoting "I was mistaken" "Different PC" "Prices CAN ONLY change at midnight" etc.
After an age of standing firm and the CS SA disappearing twice only to return having "discussed" with her supervisor and a manager, she eventually "buckled" and got the store man to join us.
He confirmed what I was saying - she still disagreed ALMOST calling him a liar as well :rotfl:
Anyway HE came to my rescue - I remembered that earlier I'd asked them to check the price of an ACER which they did on the CS till - the important bit being that they had to void the transaction (it all but being a real one) and a NULL £0.00 RECEIPT WAS PRINTED OUT.
I mentioned this to him and enquired if that was what HE had done - he thought he had
He looked in waste paper bin AND FOUND IT :j :j
£249.99 - £80 = £169.99
Of course that wasn't the end .... BATTLEAXE no longer speaking to me
:j
.. soon left CS desk never to be seen again.
"Store man" left to deal with it - 2 more staff join in - looks like they all agree that they "will HAVE to sell it" at lower price
Manager joins in - NOPE - CAN'T DO THAT
He needs to understand ALL circumstances that resulted in price glitch, price change etc. etc. Said he'd call yesterday (Wed) with update.
Well he hadn't phoned by 3pm so popped back to store - apparently he had made numerous calls but had had no replies with relevant/adequate answers.
At this point I told him about the attitude and unprofessional manner of the CS BATTLEAXE (complimenting ALL the other staff - ESPECIALLY the store man) and said that she never came close to any acknowledgement of the TRUTH once the receipt had proved her wrong and that I wasn't a LIAR !
Also pointed out that I'd calculated that our total spend in his store over the last 10 years was in excess of £40,000 .... AND that IF he would like that to continue .. all for the sake of £80 ... then an important customer relations decision needed to be made soonish
(Maybe the knowledge that a NEW TESCO Extra AND a Morrisons have both JUST got the go ahead to be built about 1 mile away - in opposite directions - helped to concentrate his mind on loyalty etc.)
Anyway I left about 16:00 and waited for today - NOT really expecting a good outcome.
HOWEVER, phone call just before noon - still said he was waiting for answers from head office, buyers, computer team etc. etc. ...
.. BUT, he had discussed the situation with another manager, and in these particular "unique" circumstances, given I'd been to the store, had the laptop in my hands, had it scanned at a till for £169.99, and his staff and written my name on it .. AND that the price had changed "for unknown reasons" in the 3 hours before I returned to collect it ......
AS A GOODWILL GESTURE - I COULD HAVE an £80 discount that he would authorise himself :j
Obviously many thanks from me, compliments on his fair-mindedness, his overall handling of a situation not of his doing that he suddenly found himself in the middle of, and of course the satisfactory outcome
Went down this afternoon - Compaq CQ56 waiting for me, £249.99 rung up - "special" goodwill £80 reduction applied, remaining balance paid with Nectar points - AND DOUBLE POINTS added to my card for the purchase
:j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j
:j :j :j :j RESULT :j :j :j :j
:j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j
AND WELL DONE SAINSBURYS for excellent Customer Service
(apart from the BATTLEAXE - I'll avoid her in future)

from what i know, you don't earn any nectar points when you use your points to pay for a shop. you only earn points for your actual spend with cash/card/gift card etc.
in your case, i'm guessing you earned double points on the £2.49 left to pay (that is if you bought the laptop alone).
can anyone confirm if this is the case?:grouphug:

I don't see why that'd be the case. You earn points on your transaction regardless of how you pay. I'm going to use some nectar points today so I may be able to test that!
I'm surprised quoia got sainsbury's to do that, I would have said that the price you pay is the price at payment time not when you reserve it/order it. That seems to be standard for home shopping. Well done for getting them to give it to you though. Tesco's may have their trouts but sainsbury's has the battleaxes!
BTW, £200 on your nectar card? What have you been saving for!? 40,000 points is "only" £20,000 worth of spending at best but even if you had £20 per year on your card for 10 years you've missed out on £55 or so. If you'd used the nectar points on your shopping and left the money in a good bank account (I'm assuming a 5% rate avg) that's how much interest you would have made.0 -

i've used nectar points to pay for my shopping several times. i've only received points for the actual amount i paid by cash/card.
also, the use of coupons also means you don't earn any points on the coupon amount.
please let me know how it goes if you do spend your points!:grouphug:

The 40,000 points have been accrued in the last 4 years (got a PVR from Argos with the previous 30,000
) and 2% to 3% is more likely nearer the mark so any "interest lost" is probably under a tenner
Regards my "double points" - there was an oddity - when I checked my receipt it did appear they hadn't gone on properly (only about half of them) and because it said "DOUBLE POINTS COUPON VOIDED" - the SA just added them manually when I queried it :j
