  • Hi,

I've done a quick search on this for you.

From what I can tell the answer is yes you can claim, but I am unsure if you can do it yourself.

But I've also come across this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=343823

Have a read and see what you can pick out.
  • hi, i went bankrupt in 2003 after chronic illness and losing job, house etc. my question is, can i still claim charges off back then. the thing is i have no idea exactly how much it will be, i think about £1000 but an insolvency practitioner dealt with all that so im not sure exactly what was paid to who. all i know is that 100% was paid to everyone and the government got about £13000 off me for the pleasure and i was left with virtually nothing after everything was paid.
any guidance would be welcome. thank you

    Hi

I would really like your help to clear something up, two years ago my boyfriend had to file for personal insolvancy due to the fact he was in debt with his bank - overdraught charges helped him spiral out of control of his finances (£90 per month in charges etc!). I said why dont you claim - I wanted to help him win back some cash.

He tells me that due to this he is unable to persue any bank charge re-claims as he tells me that Insolvancy draws a line under all creditors and means that they cannot claim from him and he cannot claim from them. I appreciate the 5 year rule on claiming but he has at least 3 years of charges to reclaim here if he can.

As I am a moneysaving devotee and dont do debt except for my mortgage I dont know the score when it comes to this. Is he right? or can we fight?:money:

    Many thanks for any help.

  • My husband has recently been made bankrupt. Our Joint account with First Direct had an over drawn balance and a small loan on it and as its in joint names I am now liable for this amount which is about £1,500. My question is am I in my right to put in a claim to reclaim the bank charges which there are a lot or at least half of them. I haven't done the sums but it would probably pay that amount off and would be a god send.

Advice please I hope I have posted this in the correct place am a bit new to this.
    Many Thanks

Hi all,I was discharged from bankruptcy in July 2007 and since then have a Nationwide Basic Account. I received a £30 charge for an unpaid standing fee in September last year and would like to reclaim it.As this is the only bank account I have and it would be difficult for me to open another one, since I am a discharged bankrupt I am concerned that Nationwide will close my account, leaving me with no banking facilities. Is it worth the risk for £30 ??ThanksDaniel

    Hi,

This may sound really cheeky and don't know if it would be allowed, so thought i'd ask the experts!!

My partner & I were declared bankruot last year, we have now both recieved early discharge..woohoo. But we must have about £3000 worth of bank charges over the past years so as we have now been discharged would we be able to claim back our charges or would the bank just say no as we owed them money when we went bankrupt.

    Any help would be great!
