If his phone number doesn't work, phone ebay IMMEDIATELY, let them know this, and insist that they cancel the purchase, give you your fees back, and let you relist.

Hopefully you'll then be able to re-list straight away, or offer it to the next highest bidder.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Hi :)

I think that our ebay board will be the best place to help you with this one so I'll move the thread across for you.

    Good luck :)

Right so I just called his number and what do you know IT DOES NOT WORK. I phoned it and it started making a weird sound..

    what kind of weird sound?

    duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu = number unobtainable
duu duu duu duu duu = engaged
    ring ring = it's ringing
a deeper ringing noise = they're not in England
if it squeals and screams at you = it's a fax machine

What on earth is the issue around someone collecting & paying for the tickets?
I take it you only ever draw £10 out of a cashpoint at a time, never park in dark streets, answer your door after 4pm, wear jewellery etc, just in case you get robbed.
I expect the buyer didn't pay yesterday as they were expecting to collect & pay. I take it that the listing ended on Wednesday if they should have paid yesterday, you still have to wait for 4 full days after opening a NPB before you can close & get your FVF's back. By which time it will of course be too late to sell them.
  • Any update on this?

...but still have the same amount of snow!
  • Thanks for you interest. I have re-listed the item. The buyer hasn't contacted me since. So Im guessing it was a fake account. I Ebay have tried to contact him but again, no response. I have raised a case and it he doesn't respond by Friday (which I dont think he will) its closed.
  • Ebay isnt all it is "cracked up" to be and this is a warning to potential sellers because:-
Despite ebay telling buyers that they are entering a contract when they bid and win. Some (first or second time) buyers still bid and win ( on others behalf !). Thereby stopping genuine buyers from winning, without the actual prospective purchaser they are bidding for viewing a fairly expensive (£750) bidded item OR even asking any questions about the item !? Then when they come many miles to collect and pay simply renege on their bid.
The seller has little recourse other than that of making a "case" against the ebay ACCOUNT holder and you, the seller, eventually get you FVF refunded but you have "lost" your original listing etc fee's and you have to re-list and pay them all again ! But first you try the Second Bid offer proceedure for the previous bidder who was outbid but that bidder knows you have'nt sold it and doesnt respond.
So when you re-list that bidder bids lower and it then sells for LESS than in the original auction.
Furthermore not only do ebay charge you for all the components of listing (which you would expect to pay) there is, of course , the Final Value Fee but if you take payment via Paypal rather than a cash only payment, Paypal, also owned by ebay, take more from you.
So who is the winner, why EBAY of course !

none of that warning really means much though, does it?

    fees,final value fees
well if you dont like em,dont use eBay
find another venue that fits your needs
bidding on others behalf for a local collect item some miles away? how often does that scenario come up?

Why should I let him collect? What if he robs me or something?

Hit him hard with a copy of the Daily Mail. I'm guessing you have some lying around....
