Thanks for you interest. I have re-listed the item. The buyer hasn't contacted me since. So Im guessing it was a fake account. I Ebay have tried to contact him but again, no response. I have raised a case and it he doesn't respond by Friday (which I dont think he will) its closed.

I guessed it was a fake account when I read your first post. No idea why people bid on items with no intention of buying - not only are they wasting the sellers time but they are also wasting their own time. Obviously nothing better to do with their time, some people need to get out more :)

If in doubt, you can click on the advanced search option on eBay and type in the buyers user ID, it will show all items they have bid on. Ebay really should bring back the negative feedback option for buyers that don't pay for items.

Have you relisted the item on auction? I would have put it on BUY IT NOW with best offer and require immediate payment. If there is someone local who wants to collect and pay on collection then all you would have to do is up the buy it now price so no one else will buy it immdiately but can still put in offers which you can accept - that way if the buyer fails to collect your item is still available for sale.

Exactly what I would do, saves timewasters (although I must admit I've never done immediate payment myself on my auctions).
