I read somewhere recently that when considering your postage fees, you should include your own time based on £5 per hour, so however long it takes you to deal with one listing, equate that to the £5

    :j

Whoever suggested that is probably trying to get other sellers accounts banned. Post and packing is hard enough with just charging for post and packing, start charging for more and buyers will soon leave such poor stars that your account will soon be gone.

Yes but it doesn't take an hour to write one listing though. You spread the cost over all the items you sell.

I love reading this thread. Recently we have sold:

an old film type camera, my boyfriend bought a camera bag at a stall for £7 and we found this old camera in it it sold on ebay for £31 and that was for spares and repair and minus the other lense which came with it which he is keeping (they are selling for £40 on ebay at the moment).

sheffield steelers shirt bought for more than I paid for it brand new from someone from nottingham

florence and fred black boots paid £5 in sale for them never wore them and sold then for £13!

Dyson DC05 Vacuum Cleaner bought off of a local forum for £10 as spares for our vacuum as lady said it didnt work. Boyfriend changed the plug and it worked good as new sold on ebay for £25 plus postage.

Technika dab radio mum got bored with it, it sold for more than it cost brand new!

Mens levi 501 jeans dad found abandoned at work sold for £21.

and last but not least spare houses for junior monopoly, mum bought me the junior monopoly thinking the parts were the same as normal monopoly, sold the houses alone for £2.20 with a message asking me if I had the instructions she could buy too!

I love reading this thread too. I recently sold the paper bag that came with some Jimmy Choo perfume I bought. Thought I might get the 99p starting bid but it went on to sell for £4.

Hi, just found this thread and have read some bits and pieces with interest. I have a signed Frank Sinatra album which has been verified by Christies as authentic. However, they did not want to take to auction as they reckoned would fetch under £250. Have never bought or sold on EBay. Anybody got any feelings on this? Thanks

I used to really enjoy this thread, but there's not so much posted on it nowadays - maybe everybody has sold their junk/treasures!

It really inspired me to get rid of my clutter and make a bit of money as well. Over the past few months I've sold:

    Straw hat
    Old CDs, DVDs & audiobooks
    Old software
    Clothing
Foreign banknotes, including notes no longer in circulation
    Novelty phones
    China
Commemorative bowls & plates (just before the jubilee)
DVDs that came free with a newspaper
    Miniature perfumes
    Old sunglasses
    Old railway toys
    Smelly shoes!
    1970's toys
    Plus loads more.

I've made over £500 from selling stuff I don't need/want anymore. It can take time as a lot of stuff may sell for 99p, but it's better in my bank than as 'stuff' in a cupboard.

    TT

I bet the Chinese wern't to happy about this.
Watch this space.... Will update soon!

    Wow.

Well if I'd the money I'd bite your hand off.

    Mmmmm re Ebay.
I'm not sure personally if I was in your shoes I'd sell on Ebay. However, having said that you could always list it as a BIN with an option for buyers to make an offer.Think about how much you'd be prepared to accept. Or run it as an auction listing and set a reserve price.

Maybe a daft suggestion but how about finding out if David Dickinson's in your area and take it along there ?
I wouldn't be in a rush to get shut of it.

    Good luck.

Thanks v much for your response, Kiwikaz. Guess my problem is was disappointed when I was told worth less than £250, don't know how to use Ebay and don't know where else to get an honest offer. Maybe greedy, but thought it would be worth a lot more!! Oh well, maybe your idea is not daft at all!! Thanks again.
  • I've been reading this thread for a while with much interest! So far I'd only sold "normal" things on eBay like clothes etc, but inspired by this thread I put on my old worn Uggs with a hole in the front of them....and they sold!!!
