After reading what you lot are selling, I have finally decided to take the plunge! I am looking at the ebay registration page and there is too much to take in! To verify my identity i think I have 3 choices - phone, creditcard or bank. What is best? How to pay seller's fees - paypal, credit card or direct bank trf. Any tips? And payment method from seller, I am guessing it will have to be paypal? Any suggestions from anyone will be welcome. Once I have registered with ebay, i guess I will have to register with paypal - how long would that take? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I joined ebay years ago so its probably changed a bit, but why not get joined up & sorted in advance so that when you do want to sell your [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] 'pre-loved treasures' you can do it right off.

I pay sellers fees with paypal - but I also have my airmiles credit card listed as a paypal payment option (extra cash/miles).

Register with paypal now & maybe buy one or two teenyweeny things to get a feel of how it works (it's basically a go-between system between two bank accounts/cards) & then you can link your paypal account with your ebay account.

As a seller, I accept paypal, credit card (the buyer uses their card to pay me via paypal). I also state I accept postal orders & cheques but have not had one of those sent to me for years.

You can also start to make some simple 'cut & paste' templates for listings - saves a lot of typing - and check out postage costs. Digital scales are useful but ordinary Lb & oz are ok if you can convert it ok in your head! Start collecting packing materials - recycling them is fine (I charge at the lower end for P&P) as long as they are clean and tidy.

    Have fun!
  • I sold a load of broken jewelry on ebay - nothing valuable, just beads and things from cheap costume jewelry and odd earrings... I guess people were using it for crafting.

Another good one - if you can sew a straight line, pick up fabric scraps and make a few cushions - those made from ikea fabrics seem to go especially well.

My notification said it was only free listings for items listed via an eBay mobile app, eg iPhone, iPad etc.

It that the same for everyone?

I wonder if I just relist stuff using my iPhone that will be ok?

Good luck everyone with your sales!

I think it's a straightforward free listing weekend - when I signed in just now the first screen that came up said that it was free listing.
Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

I'm very grateful to people for posting when there is a free listing weekend. For some reason ebay won't email me this alert, (and I have checked everything.)

I've got a nice pair of hiking trousers on at the mo.
