Sorry, but I think selling things which are broken beyond repair is a bit disgusting.
Broken but hassle to fix, fine, some people make a hobby of it.
But just plain broken is unfair.
Think how many kids or older people or the techno phobic have by accident bought something that you sold because it's broken.
Have to say I disagree with this quote too... I recently sold a BROKEN apple mac computer because it was BROKEN... however the guy I sold it to, brought it specifically because it was BROKEN and he wanted it for spares/repairs...!
So long as it is clearly stated in the listing that it's broken... I don't see the problem... scrap yards sell broken parts but people still buy them!0 -
- topshop material carrier bag - jumper i bought which it came in was £8 but bag sold for £12!
- Work from home and earn £50 an hour leaflet looking like £50 note with text on back - sold for between £10-30 and got for free at job fair! US and AUS collectors love anything with the queen - and put the correct spin on it (frame and you have a piece of art and text on back doesnt matter) and you can sell anything!
- broken Amstrad monitor (sitting at grans house for dumpyard trip) - sold for £12
- old argos catalogues
basically all things that were going in the bin!!0 -
I have some original 60s vinyl I want to sell. Any ideas where I can get the best price for them? Is ebay the only option realistically?0

It's a really useful tool, especially for items like that
Can anyone tell me how to do this please? (in simple terms as I am just learning the basics) And does this tell you how much things have sold for, if not is there a way to do this?
thanks.0 -
In the search bar, type what you want to look up.
Once the search is complete, next to the blue search bar to the right is the word 'advanced', click on this and a new search area will come up.
First section is 'enter keywords or item number'
Second section is 'search including'..... tick the box 'completed listings' and press enter.
You should then have a list of all completed listings for the item you searched.
Hope this makes senseIf you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

Great tip about the leaflet (will look out for interesting ones) and Royal stuff for US/AUS collectors, thanks.
I once picked up 5 free postcards, years ago, and decided recently to sell them. There was a drawing of 3 budgies and one of them had an Elvis hairstyle. They went for about £5 each! Elvis collectors will buy anything, ANYTHING Elvis related.0 -
Brilliant thread! It has taken me over 2 days to read it all! I never thought ebay would interest me so much. I am kicking myself as I have thrown away a lot of the stuff that you all have sold. My house if full of 50 years of stuff which can be sold. I am too scared to take the plunge to ebay. I have thousands of questions. How do you get paid? I am guessing that you have to join paypal? Is it necessary and is there an alternative? I suppose if I want to sell, I will have to join paypal. I need to read up on how much ebay charges, how much paypal charges, learn to take photos (can do that at least!) and upload on ebay, learn how to price, look into postage etc etc. Is there a simple guide to all this that I can read up? Do I register with ebay now and then wait for the free listing day? Any initial help to start appreciated. Thanks
There's a sticky on the main ebay board, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/598590

You may not get free listings to start with, so start selling a few small easy to post non breakables to start with
Always weigh the item with packaging so that you know what the p&p costs will be.
Until you build up your confidence keep with cheapy things. Pop over to the ebay board & have a read of the postage sticky as well.0
