I just sold my I phone 3g which got dropped so had a shattered screen and wouldn't even switch on - I got just over £50 for it!
My best "sell" was a Radley wool scarf I got as a gift. It had cost him £25 but I couldn't wear it because it was too scratchy. I got £75 for it because it turned out it was limited edition and had sold out within weeks0 -
Having bought a damaged 3-seat Ikea sofa with 2 sets of (marked) covers from eBay for 99p about 15 months ago, we finally saved and got replacement.
Got rid of the damaged frame as was irreparable, but...
The sofa feet went for £1.20
The replacement cover (bought new for £28 with discount/vouchers as didn't want to use the marked covers) went for £27.07
With this success, gave the marked covers a 60°C wash and now...
The white marked cover went for £11
The beige/patterned cover went for £36.77
Very pleased with my £47.05 profitLittle man arrived 13 Dec 20120 -
I sold some smurfs, the free ones in happy meals, not sure if this has already been posted. They go from about £2 upwards with some being more sought after than others. Its not much but it all helps.0

Brilliant thread! It has taken me over 2 days to read it all! I never thought ebay would interest me so much. I am kicking myself as I have thrown away a lot of the stuff that you all have sold. My house if full of 50 years of stuff which can be sold. I am too scared to take the plunge to ebay. I have thousands of questions. How do you get paid? I am guessing that you have to join paypal? Is it necessary and is there an alternative? I suppose if I want to sell, I will have to join paypal. I need to read up on how much ebay charges, how much paypal charges, learn to take photos (can do that at least!) and upload on ebay, learn how to price, look into postage etc etc. Is there a simple guide to all this that I can read up? Do I register with ebay now and then wait for the free listing day? Any initial help to start appreciated. Thanks0

Firstly welcome to the thread. It is great huh?
Secondly just go for it. Unless you try you will never learn and you do learn just by trying. Set up an EBay account now. Takes minutes. Yes you will need a paypal account too. This is free. From the top of my head Ebay don't charge a fee for listing anything under 99p. As you know free listing weekends which seem to come every two weeks lets you list 100 things as an auction style listing for free. Buy it now (BIN) charges a fee depending what you sell. Some items you can add as many pictures as you want. I think it's media and clothing but don't quote me on this. All listings at least let you have one free photo.
Take good clear pictures of what you are selling and include as much information as you can and be honest about defects, scratches etc etc.
You can do a search for completed listings to see what things have sold for to get an idea what to price things.
EBay have tutorials and there are countless threads about selling on EBay if you google the term "how to sell on EBay"
It's simple. Just go for it and don't let fear hold you back. As soon as you list your first few items and you start to get people watching and bidding etc you will see how much fun it is. Your heart will race when the minutes and seconds tick down and there is a bidding war and you see the price rise. The same when bidding on something you really want and you win it. I get such a rush sometimes.
Ebay folk are fantastic on the whole. There are a few shysters out there but this is life and you get that but don't let it put you off as it is great.
Hope this helps! The art is not in making money, but in keeping it!!!0 -
If you have old Kinder toys, they sell well. Sold a load in an ice cream tub for approx £30. Plus G1 My Little Pony - my castle with all bits went to Italy for nearly £250.Little man arrived 13 Dec 20120

Do a Completed Listings search and have a look at what has sold.
It's a really useful tool, especially for items like thatHalf of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700 -
