Yes i have been thinking of ordering a few bits to use as conversation starters then returning them.

Just to be clear: i can order a lip gloss at demo price, use it for a bit, return it to Avon, who will give me my money back?!
  • yes, it will appear as a credit on your account, so if you put the return through online before your next order is due you will not have to pay for it... you can order stuff out of the main catalogues too - everything is returnable. :)

The only thing returning things during your first few campaigns can affect is qualifying for the free samples as they take into account returns, but hopefully your next orders will be much larger so it won't be a problem. You've actually done really well to get that amount of orders in such a short time :)

Well order in yesterday- i ordered the Antler bag and purse- to top me up- and it's not like its going to fall in my wardrobe or anything, so that can go straight back!
I ended up having to submit my order to my ASL as she had given me an extra day so i couldn't do it online, i didn't get to order bags as it seemed she was rushing me off the phone- so may have to look at e-bay later. Don't really want to hand over products loose!

No I wouldn't hand things out loose you want to create a good impression from the beginning. Maybe she can give you some of hers and then you could give her them back when you get yours with your next order. Depending how local she is obviously).

Aaaaarghhh! That other thread about 'delivering catalogues', can't comment on the other companies but the ex avon reps are whining about having to deliver brochures, get customers and organise deliveries. I'm not avons best friend at the moment but winds me up when peeps don't realise that it's practically handed to them on a plate. How do they think they earn the money, then?

Lol some people would complain no matter what - I think they've never had to work for money a day in their life. I don't like getting up early for work but that's life lol

It doesn't help that the way Avon's promoted by (some ;) ) uplines and Avon themselves is that it's "easy". That's the word I saw used on an official Avon post/website yesterday. Yes, it's not calculus but it's still work and you need to put effort in.

Whether you do it for 2 hours a week or 16 hours a week, it's a business and too few people approach it with that mindset. If you do, you think about getting organised, making things as easy as possible for yourself, while still expecting some work will be involved.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.
  • Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about becoming a rep on and off for ages now and I keep putting it off cos I'm not sure I'd have enough time to 'do the job properly' lol.

So recently I've started thinking of maybe just selling to friends and family. Can anyone tell me what all the 'rules' and the criteria is for this? I.e. do I have to order every campaign? What's the minimum I'd need to spend on each order to get free delivery? And if I order products for myself (at the reps' rate) does this still count towards my total order value?
I wouldn't expect to make a lot of money from selling to friends and family but I'd hope to get some nice discounted bargains for myself :-) I'm due to have my second child in June, so I'm thinking I might look into delivering to a territory once my oldest daughter goes back to nursery in September and I've got myself into a routine with the baby.

Everything we order counts, even brochures and bags. If you order £80 you get 20%, £150 and you get 25% - the minimum order for free delivery though is only £10 which is obviously very easy to achieve!

There's no rules for being friends/family compared to having territory - you don't need to order every campaign but you would need to order at least every third campaign to keep your account open. Though with you needing to order brochures (which aren't returnable), it might be advisable to decide how often you'll be ordering so that you can plan what books to order, though if you know you'll be ordering something for yourself most campaigns (if your order is below £10 you could add to it and then return the products later to avoid the delivery charge).

Good luck - it's certainly flexible to do if you approach it in the right way, I work full time and fit it around my shifts, and of course plenty of reps work it around work as well as family :)
