I've been updating my Facebook page and adding different bits and pieces. I've started adding my orders in so that I don't have to rush to get it all done at the end.

    hi
i want to start avon parties for more money but my friends aren't interested and none of my customers seem to be either. Have tried advertising on gumtree and local shops but nothing - any ideas on how i can attract people for parties?

fuddle, you are so like me, I have only done one drop and pick up so far, put out 36 books and got 24 back with 1 order :( although that 1 order made me feel fantastic lol

I am planning on dropping some more books tomorrow but I have a sort of estate/flats to do and am unsure of it as it is quite complicated, also I need to get more organised with this as I said to a couple of people that didn't give me a book back that I would call back tomorrow (would have been last Thursday) and realised later I wouldn't be able to as I have had a bit of a family crisis and had relatives arrive on Thursday who only left today! So I already feel like I have been unreliable!

I will knock on the doors that i didn't get a book back, but what worries me is that my road is a bit higgledy piggledy and I might knock somewhere that did give me back a book...I am usually an intelligent person, but something about walking down a road 'avoning' takes away all my common sense! things can only get better though eh :rotfl:

You could try Facebook, local for sale groups could be good, or you could have a stall at a local fair and sell some products and offer info about your parties.

  • Hello,

I started Avon 2years ago in June and I had no idea at all (until now!)that we were supposed to declare to the taxman. What should I do?? I have a job (25 hours per week.

Quick Facebook question - I'm going to start putting regular ads on the "sell, swap, wanted" local pages on FB. But then I thought: how do people get in contact with me and do I need to be going back to check the comments if people have left any (ads move down the list quickly so it would be difficult to go back).

I'm just worried people will comment on the ads I put up and I'll miss them, or they'll comment on page posts (without making any other contact) and that asking people to get in touch via e-mail isn't the easiest way for the customer.

The plan is: e-mail and link to page in ads (clearly saying that's how to get in touch), once they're on the page they can e-mail or message me. Is there a flaw in this I'm not seeing? :o
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

    Hello,

I started Avon 2years ago in June and I had no idea at all (until now!)that we were supposed to declare to the taxman. What should I do?? I have a job (25 hours per week.

You'll just have to register as self-employed - at which point they'll ask for the date you started. Otherwise you've got the worry of being turned in. You never know, the hours you work (employment + Avon) could mean you're entitled to working tax credit/child tax credit and the like.

I'd have some figures ready because I'd be surprised if they didn't ask about your earnings. Have your P60s in front of you, and for the Avon side of things:

    - Turnover for each tax year you've done Avon - this is the total amount of incoming money
    - Expenses for each tax year - Google "HMRC allowable expenses" to find a list

Usually when people comment on anything you've posted you'll get a notification so you know, and it you click on it, it'll take you to the post.

But yes asking people to message/email is probably the most straightforward way of doing it.

Quick question, probably a silly one, but when we do a regular order and back order from the prev book (all at the same time) do we get commission on the items from the prev book? just thinking of looking for any creative ordering but that would obv make a difference....

    Thanks if anyone can help
