They'll provide the second lot when you see them next :)

I tend to give extra books - but that's at my cost and when you then get people not ordering and not letting you collect the books back from them, you can see why people only provide the minimum as it can work out too expensive. We only get refunded for 40 books, and that's only when someone places a first order of mov.

Thank you both of you. I'm trying to think really hard and plan what it is I want to get out aboutit before I dive in.

To be honest I've been in two minds for so long because of friends negative feedback from their friends and family members who have done Avon. I don't know whether I want to subject myself to rudeness etc but I'm fed up of not doing something because others say not to.

Life is what you make it. Success is measured on how hard you try I say. :)

I would like to take this steady and work hard, thinking even of moving up to the next step in September when my children go to School. It's not just about making money for me (although we need to) I would like a job, to feel a success after being at home with children for so long.

I am about to go apply online. :)

Unless you'll try you'll never know - and without wanting to be rude, I've found on the whole, if people haven't made any money it's because they haven't put the effort in. Obviously not always the case but it happens. I think the best thing is that while the hourly rate probably doesn't work out great - its flexible and it's yours, you can make of it what you want whether that's doing it full time or just selling enough to get your products at a discount.

Ah I see, I don't mind really. I'll just order more for the next time :)

She did ask me about becoming a SL because of losing my job, I'm considering it but not sure how easy it is to find people who want to become a rep. I don't really have a big family/friend circle like some because of moving from Edinburgh to Cardiff.

I've been talking to my friend on the school run, and again she was negative about it, almost scoffing. Sometimes I really need to get away from small minded opinionated people!

Anyway, I digress. She was saying that there's two people she knows of that sell in my village, one being a close friend of hers. She says she's stopping selling because she's fed up of losing money due to people not paying when she tries to deliver the order. I said I had read that you can just return the item but she was sure that the rep has to pay for anything that is not sold because Avon charge you for it.

I'm off to read the beginning of the thread again but if anyone can put my mind at ease with this one I would be grateful.

I'm determined to make a go of this because I'm fed up of nay sayers and negative woman feeding off hoping other people's plans fail. Village life can be so difficult at times.

Nope, if you're right, if we can't deliver the item we can just send it back, there is even a code to ūe when we are 'unable to deliver/collect money'. So as long as you dont hand over goods without payment, you won't be stuck paying for items you don't want or can't deliver.

There are some reps who earn a lot just from being a rep, they are classed as president club members, and the gold members have to sell £33,500 worth a year so 25% of that is a decent amount. Obviously not that many sell that much, but it shows it's possible.

I'd suggest telling your friend to tell that rep abou this thread, sounds like perhaps she hasn't had the help she should have if she doesn't realise she can return goods.

Once again people have the wrong impression of Avon/a Chinese-whispers effect has happened.

A Sales Leader on a forum for Avon reps said recently she was out prospecting and was shocked at how many people were saying "my friend did it and she lost money" and even "it's a scam/con".

From a financial POV Avon's a low-risk/no risk opportunity: small start-up fee of £15, if people can't pay you you just don't hand over the order and put in a credit for the undelivered items (very easy to do online - you'll be shown how), you don't pay off your balance until you've collected in the money from your customers (i.e. Avon send the goods out on credit, which is why they have to do a basic check), brochures are relatively low-cost and you don't have to buy in several months-worth of books in in one go (unlike Kleeneze with its higher start-up fee).

Research a good Sales Leader to sign up under - they can make all the difference. I signed up on the official site under an ASM (an employee of Avon who can also recruit reps) and my experience has been good, particularly with our latest ASM, but others can be difficult to work with.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

I have handed out my books. Got completely confused with the street layout though! I still can't find where anything above 50 is and I apparently have up to 122....

If you have the postcode try searching on googlemaps that can be useful especially if they have street view as you can see exactly where they should be.

After today I won't be about for a few days, but hopefully other experienced reps/sl will help out :)
