Great guide Lozza. I just have a few questions, when you say a seperate profile is better for Avon can I have this in addition to my normal profile? Is so do I just log out and try to create a new sign up?
Also you say you cannot have Avon in the url. Could I call the page itself kjgkgj Norfolk Avon for example? and just have a different url name?
I am slightly confused as to when avon allow you to use their name and logo and when they don'tMortgage overpayments 2014 £175

yep you can just have 2 accounts, you just need 2 separate email addresses. Then just log into whichever one you want to use.
And yes you can have your page called norfolk avon (mine is "my town" avon) - but my URL isn't, it's www.facebook.com/mytowncosmetics, likewise for my profile it's my name avon, but my url is https://www.facebook.com/mywebsitename. When searching for it though, it displays as my town avon so people can see it's to do with avon, it's just the URL that doesn't have Avon in it.
Silly really that Avon won't let us use the word Avon in the url or email addresses, it would make it easier for us to promote our business, and therefore earn avon more money - but those are the rules unfortunately, I guess they are worried that if the word avon is in the url, it looks like it's official (ie that they've checked it and OK'd it) when they haven't. They say we can't have it in the URl or email address, and doing it this way although Avon displays on your page, it isn't in the URL so therefore as far as i can see it's within the rules. THey might well try and tighten up on this in time, but they'd have a very hard job, as you can imagine there are a lot of avon reps, sales leaders & managers on facebook so I don't see as it would be worth their time - providing of course you're giving a "good image" for Avon (if you were being horrible to people etc then they'd probably persue it).Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
WOW :starmod: Lozza :starmod: Am mega impressed, thanks! Am not a great fan of FB but can see how useful it can be provided you get your profile's split between personal and Avon. TBH, that's what's held me back re. FB.... Deffo need to get myself sorted in that direction now.

Can I just check re the accounts side of things with avon. When I used to do my accounts I would put the customer price of goods as being my sales, less the avon price of the goods as my purchases, plus any other overheads like brochures etc. Is this correct?
Or should we just record our sales as the actual commission received ie the difference between sales and cost price, with no inclusion for the purchases of goods? Just want to make sure I get it right.
Also how do you guys record stuff, do you just use a spreadsheet each campaign to summarise costs and sales etc? Do you also include mileage, use of home etc?Mortgage overpayments 2014 £175

Best way to do it is, the way that you've described at the top - when doing your tax return it'll ask for total revenue (all money coming in from customers), then total costs (cost of products plus brochures etc). You can include mileage, and a % of home costs, there are free courses run to help, but I've never been on one as they are all during the week and I'm not using a holiday day to go on a tax course
Everyone records things differently, I have a folder I stick my invoices in, and another for receipts, then when I come to do my tax return I sit and put it all into a spreadsheet, but I don't do it as I go along as I'd never remember lol.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Lozza, your post is fab and really informative.
This is an area I know I am not utilising to the best so have just booked myself onto some FREE training courses through our local Business Gateway people. I am doing a general marketing course and also a more specific Social Networking/Marketing course. There is also a local Business Advisor who I have booked an appt with cos (shhh!!!) I have heard that I might qualify for a business grant which I would then use for marketing!
All appts are over the next few weeks so can report back any info I get if anyone is interested?
New ASM in our area is proving to be great! MC has always said that it is best to build a relationship with your ASM but my old one simply, well how could I put it......? Have now been out prosecting with new ASM and found her approach to be really refreshing. We worked well together and I hope it will continue.
I do loads of events, usually just booking a stall, but have decided to take the plunge and arrange my own to raise funds for BBC. Have hall booked and some traders already and it is planned for 17th March - just hope it is a success!! Wish me luck ladies!:D
Off this afternoon to have a post-christmas catch up with some of the other girls who I met through doing events, taking some brochures for them to peruse while we sup!0 -

Yeah that would be great if you let us know how you get on :j
My old asm was awful too, she never replied to emails and basically just ignored everyone unless she had to do something (usually when I'd complained to her boss)...thankfully my new asm is fab - it does make a huge difference doesn't it. Good luck with your event sounds great

I imagine there are very strict rules - maybe even laws - that insist upon there being no chance of mis-representation with advertising, rather than it just coming from Avon.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. They used to allow sales leaders to use the word Avon in their own website names, however they decided to change the rules. They did used to check websites though so they were approved, but they don't bother anymore just give us guidelines to follow (not that many people do). I'd be happy to pay for avon, or an external company, to check my website if it would then mean that I could have the word Avon in the URL. But unfortunately they don't give us that option, hopefully in the future they might do. The annoying thing is though, so many people have URL with avon in regardless, so then the ones of us that follow the rules don't show up in google searches as high up as the ones that break the rules.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Well done, everyone, some great tips here! :j Have always preferred this thread to AC; much more use.
Good luck with your fayre, MB, and really glad you finally managed to get some decent support from your ASM.
Here's to 2012 being good to us all!
