I am meeting a sales rep and her area team leader tonight.

I have never done Avon before, just some leaflet drops and phone book deliveries so I am unsure as to what to expect from it all.

If I've read and understood this thread correctly, tonight will be "T1" and an introduction to what Avon is all about?

Could anyone give me any insight as to what else may be involved?

    Many Thanks

Can I ask how your meeting went last night?

  • I would really like to give Avon another go, as I'm saving for a house deposit, but when I did it before I had zero support, and it seems to still be a problem from what I've read on here.
I'm also really worried bout the state of the service reps seem to get from Avon. It seems that unless you are PC, you only get half your order turn up, and what you do get is bashed to bits.

Anyone say anything to dispel my worries?
I really enjoyed it before, but I had no SL and I shall make no comment on ASM support.

Thanks in advance for any advice! x
  • I have pretty good support (although after reading this thread sometimes I know more than her but that's because these ladies are so knowledgeable) and my asm was really good at sorting out a minor turf war for me so she's brill too!

Not received anything too battered and only received one missing item as they sent something really random instead but got the replacement the next campaign and kept the mistaken item for free!

    Hi Ruby,

Yes support CAN be patchy, but this thread is absolutely invaluable for advice & problem solving. I had zero support in the beginning but am now many years in. Not true, in my experience, that your order arrives short or in bits. You will, at some point, probably have a leakage, but I feel it's rare and not a reason to not begin doing avon. Hope this helps and we'd be happy to help you out if you join up.

  • Hi, I'm really hoping someone will be able to help me with this.

To cut a long story short, my husband left out of the blue a few weeks back and I've had to put in a claim for Income Support. I've been doing Avon on and off for the last couple of years; I did try with territory but had nothing but problems so decided to stick with just friends and family. Not really made any profits as such; just use whatever I've made to buy shampoo, cosmetics etc.

Anyway, I (stupidly) declared this to Income Support, they requested my campaign 15, 16 and 17 invoices which I sent. However, now they're wanting my invoices from October 2010 to October this year, and I no longer have all of them (a lot of paperwork got mixed up with him moving out and he's binned a lot of stuff). They have said that if I don't provide them by the 19th of January they will stop my money. I have two children so understandably this sent me into a bit of a panic!

According to the woman I spoke to this morning at the Jobcentre, they have had this issue before and what I should do is contact Avon to get them to provide me with my previous invoices. Does anyone know if a) they will do this; and b) which specific department to contact to ask? On the odd occasion I have phoned Avon customer services they have not exactly been helpful; indeed they didn't speak very good English and struggled to understand my broad north east accent!

If anyone could help me I would be eternally grateful :)

    Merry Christmas everyone :)

You can get copies of invoices from Avon, not sure who to speak to though - personally I'd try emailing them first, they seem to do a lot better when it's written down first.
  • Appreciate this is only of interest to certain people but thought I'd pass the word - according to Avon:

    * Small Charge Order will be waived in C2 & 3 (C4 & 5 for T/S)
    * .

This is, obviously, Avon's way to encourage all reps to place an order C1-4 rather than miss a campaign. They're definitely trying hard - think twice before you decide NOT to place an order, however small. ;)

Can i ask how you know this? The reason I ask is that people on Connects are talking about ordering something for £10 on C2 to waive the charge?

Also, I have some returns, so do want to order something, but if I don't order much, will the order come by Royal Mail? (I was going to order the five soaps for £5 and hoped these would come by courier?)

I found out about the waived P+P in a newsletter from my ASM.

I'm not 100% on this, but if the order is small in size (not just value) it would still come via Royal Mail. I got a free replacement (which is usually RM) sent via courier when it was a larger item. Just add a 1 litre bubble bath and that should do the trick. :D
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Aerosols will always come by courier, due to risk of explosion in the mail ;)

Most orders arrive safely with all items intact. The damaged/missing ones are the ones you hear about as we all vent! (I'm not PC).

Support can be poor in some areas. My SL left soon after I joined and was not really helpful. My ASM has sorted out minor turf war and given me a little more territory when asked. I have never met her.

This thread and connects are the best aides for any questions you have and can help motivate. I feel most reps give up as they are not willing to put in a lot of legwork over the first year or so to establish themselves and their customer base.

    Don't forget avon supply:
    A well established brand.
A warehouse stocked with 1000's products at your disposal.
Full colour brochures each month reasonably priced.
Discounts on your orders for commission.
Credit from one order to another.
Free delivery (subject to order value).
Call centre (had to add this although I hate the Indian c/c's).
    Stationary.

I have a very love/hate relationship with avon but end of the day, all the rep needs to do is find the customers, place the orders and deliver them.
