A long shot, and naughty, I know, but if anyone has a reservation / a HP touchpad in Scotland that they don't need I will happily take it off their hands. Thank you!

edit - one 16gb still available to reserve in Clydebank Britannia Way Argos.

Does anybody know if Amazon will honour orders or, will they cancel them. Reason I ask, this morning I ordered a touchpad at £89 and have not been updated on its status, it just says:

    Not yet dispatched
We'll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date for this item. It will be dispatched separately. You can cancel at any time.

I am optimistic as to whether I get one... if I do great, if I do not then it's not the end of the world...

    Hi all

silly question... re Wifi and 3G. I currently use the internet via a dongle. Does this mean I will need to get a wireless dongle (Mifi)? Are there any limitations for only using Wifi?

    Thanks

The touchpad only uses WiFi and not 3g/2g etc. So you will be limited to using it only where you can access WiFi. I do not believe you can get a dongle for it to make it portable, i.e work on 3g/mobile networks.

I haven't heard a thing from Staples even though I ordered before 10am this morning. Is anyone else in this situation please? Stressed out!
  • Argos reservation has expired :( - was unable to get it extended by @argoshelpers on twitter... I wonder how long it takes to get back in the stock system as it's not available again...?

Anyone with a spare code for West Midlands area?

I ordered one from staples too but had an email saying that they didn't have any left. However they have taken the money from my account?!

Wifi will only let you connect to a nearby wireless network.

if you want an internet connection direct from your touchpad you'd need a 3g dongle, there is a thread discussing that at the Maplins forum (sorry I am a new user so am not allowed by this forum to post the link)

The thread indicates that a list of compatible dongles is printed in the Touchpad instruction manual and that using a 3g dongle is viable.

Mi-Fi will be fine, they are superb little things creating a portable Wi-Fi network for phone/tablets/laptops etc
