Why are HP taking so long reducing the price here when they have obviously decided to do it over the weekend in USA & Canada? I hope we won't get shafted in terms of price here.

I tried to get one from USA but couldn't get one off the HP site there as it kept crashing and thought I'd bagged one this am from Barnes & Noble only to discover a email from them saying there wasn't 1 for me. Hope I have better luck here, I only want 1.

Well I've gone ahead and bought one at the full price (£429 for 32gb). I'll try and grab another one at the reduced price when they get released and cancel my initial order, if I can't I'll hope for the refund deal. If that falls through I'll return it under DSR. Either way I should (hopefully) come out fairly well off.

Edit: Whoops, looks like I was one of the people who got the 32GB taken off the site.

This may stop some people who are waiting for them from being able to get some, but fair enough.

I'd recommend people just take the risk, if you have the space on your credit card. Now there's a serious chance of a refund it's worth taking the punt.

(Before the suggestion of a refund, I'd completely agree)

In the US they are offering people the chance of a full refund if they return the product or the difference between $99 and what they actually paid. I'd want to know what the refund details are over here before risking it!

    I'd recommend against this.

    • Some stores will know people are doing this and right or wrong may fight it. You may come out okay, but it may get messy.
    • If everyone buys them at this price then HP or anyone won't have much reasoning to lower the price and they've just pulled the greatest marketing move in history.
    • This is a bit excessive. Just be patient? HP never said it would be now, or even today. It may be this time next week :)

I'd imagine it's Twitter rumours. Most likely not true, if they are true it'll be near impossible to find the orginal source.

The safety net is the Distance Selling Regulations - if the courier won't return to sender on the door (i.e. if I refuse to accept the package if it turns up and there's no refund in sight), then I can return it for a few pounds and not really be that out of pocket.

The possibility though, is that now the tablet isn't for sale (and, importantly, won't be on sale at the reduced price), maybe no one will get refunds. But I'd imagine it'd be in their interests to honor any refund system, otherwise they'll have a pile of returned touchpads.
