Sorry Jem, I feel I was at fault with my rant about education, which had absolutely nothing to do with this thread at all. I think that there are only one or two ex-teachers here - everyone else is perfectly normal! I usually keep quiet about what I used to do because people tend to look at you kinda funny.
Today I've got slices of pork belly in a low oven ready for lunch, with more veg from the garden. I actually recognised what it was when I took the package from the freezer. I now have a reel of masking tape and a Sharpie stored next to the freezer, so mystery parcels should be a thing of the past.
I believe that friends are quiet angels

Have trouble remembering how to fly.

  • Hello everyone :)
I'm currently a full time homemaker, by choice. I'll soon be starting a little bit of studying but no plans to work anytime soon. I was wondering if I'd be able to join? I haven't had a chance to read through a lot of the thread... :o

Hello :D Welcome to our lovely little group. We have some lovely people in our group and chat forum :)
  • Hi everyone

I've been the examiner for speaking exams this morning again and I've got a headache, backache and anxiety.... I'm starting to get the message from my body about what I can and can't cope with at the moment. One more day at work then that's it for now.

I've got my nice but dim one-to-one student in a bit - he's lovely but his English is so terrible that it's hard to keep him occupied for two hours - we watch a lot of Mr Bean on YouTube which I then try to get him to talk about. The two hours feel like two days sometimes, but the money is so good that I can't say no, really. He's going back to college soon so I thought it would finish, but apparently he likes coming to me and his parents are absolutely loaded and will quite happily pay for him to have private lessons as well as college classes.

So I still feel like I've got a foot in both camps - still working, but longing for some time at home to get myself together again. I can teach the Chinese boy at my apartment so I think it fits in well with my homemaking/resting, but getting in to a school in the city centre first thing in the morning when the buses are so busy is too much at the moment.

I had firm words with DH last night about expecting me to do everything in the house before my work contract finishes, and he promised not to do it again :p. As of next week I'm sure I'll be able to get most of the stuff done during the day, but it's going to take me a while to get into a routine, especially as I'm not myself at the moment and everything takes so much longer.

    Sorry for the ramble...
  • By the way, please forgive me if I've missed anyone off the list on the first page - please PM me and I'll add your name xxxx
