I just wanted to mention that if you are having trouble with this board then you could try zetaboards to set up a forum - they allow you to amend the fonts and backgrounds (not sure if your forum allows you to do that) and are free as far as I know.

thanks, the original board is now different take a look, just had to get into the admin.

  • My OH and I are both retired. We make equal amounts of mess etc. I do all the cooking, clean bathroom and kitchen every day, and so on.
So why do I feel guilty because he's just done the vacuuming (without being asked to)?
Is there a pyschiatrist on here?
    Normal people worry me.

omg, I know exactly how you feel. Dh and I are both retired and I was only thinking the other day about how much work I do compared to dh, who will willingly do anything asked of him. I never vacuum now, or clean the windows or iron. He does it all without asking and I have even seen him dust but I do 10 times more and I feel guilty when he vacuums. It is ingrained in us boomers and I know that so I just get on and do something else or I go and work on the allotment

    Hello
  • I'm still dipping my toe into the waters of full-time homemaking, but DH is getting ahead of himself. He's always happily done the laundry as his share of the housework while we've both been working all day, but he came home today and asked where his running kit was. Since I haven't got psychic abilities (yet) the answer was that it was still dirty in his bag...

I've three more days at work, then it's all unknown - I'm feeling so much better now that I'm at home more, but it's still scary. I could get supply teaching work at any time, but there's no guarantee and I've never been in this position before.

I'm doing well with decluttering - this is one of the main things I want to achieve in my early days as a full-time homemaker. I uploaded all my language learning CDs onto the computer and then onto my phone, and have put the CDs out for the charity shop. The less physical stuff there is in the flat, the happier I am. If and when I do go back to regular work, it will be so much easier to keep tidy if I haven't got much stuff about.
  • welcome jackel :)

Yeah, when DH and I both worked he helped out loads with the chores, now he does sweet naff all. Can't blame him as it's my job and I understand that but shesh, sometimes you need to be untied from the sink!

Hi everyone, can I join in too, I've just handed in my notice at work, I'm currently in a job I hate, only work 16 hours, very stressed and the shifts are a nightmare for childcare for me, so DH has suggested I stay at home! I'm a bit scared regarding the financial side of things but on paper it looks like we will be fine, so will be giving it a go and if it doesn't work out I'll just have to look for something else. Actually quite looking forward to it now!
