I'm really excited about meal planning - I've not done it for years and that's probably why we spend so much money on food...

Hi
Would love to join in. Have been a stay at home for some years now, pensioner, I love it.
I dont mealplan as such I prefer to see what reduced things Ican
get and plan round that. This week I bought loads of reduced meat and fish. So this week I am roasting a beef joint £2.00 instead of £5
and will see how many meals I can get from it.
Plan so far is
Sun Roast beef dinner with all the trimmings
Mon Cold Beef and bubble & squeek
Tue Cold Beef chips and pickled Beetroot
Wed Curry and rice
Thur Stew if there is any left.Slimming World at target0 -
Hi all
It is getting a bit difficult to see the "on-topic" posts in this thread. There are a fair number of posts that are basically "Daily Thread" posts, others that could equally well fit into "Flylady" and "What have you baked?", and yet more that could be posted in our regular "Weekly meal plans" thread.
I understood that the purpose of this thread would cover areas that provide help and support in the areas of "coping with being a homemaker - either voluntarily or enforced", "how to come to terms with being a home maker", "how to view your 'self' and your value as a homemaker" and so on...
..not "I had sausages for breakfast" or "I'm going to do some ironing in a minute".

Wow life in turmoil you are one organised cookie!
I have found meal planning really helps me to stay organised (me too forgetting to take stuff out the freezer) and helps me keep costs down. I am trying to look at staying at home as my job and its my job to run it as efficiently as possible and to keep costs down.
Sleep is an issue for me as well either cant get enough because my brain wont shut up or cant get out of bed in the morning (or stay out of it during the day). I have struggled with depression as well since I was a teenager its shocking how many of us feel like this, I have good days and not so good days like most people but coming on here actually really helps me. Its good to read peoples tips and I love getting lightbulb moments when I read something and think...of course thats a brilliant idea why have I never done that before. It makes me motivated to actually do stuff.
I will post my MP for this week when i can find it haha need to be a bit more organised I thinkkonMarie and fabbing all the way

I'll admit I shall be interested in the on-topic ideas on this - because one of these days I shall be a (voluntary) home-maker.:)0 -
Re Squeaky's post:
I can see that according to the MSE rules we need to keep this on topic ie about coping with/enjoying being an OS homemaker in a world that often encourages us to define ourselves by our job rather than who we are.
If I understand Squeaky correctly, we need to focus on our roles as homemakers if we want to avoid the thread being disallowed.

I know this is off-topic but...
Lollyfin and others who have trouble sleeping, I've had the same problem and wanted to share what worked for me.
If you need to be in bed during the day because of health/depression etc, don't use the bed you sleep in at night. Use the sofa or ideally a spare bed if you have one. It helps the brain associate your bed with sleep. Also, don't use any electronics in the bedroom like a laptop or TV. Avoid caffeine in the evening. Research 'sleep hygiene' for more tips but I've done the above and it's made loads of difference for me.0
