Sever allergic reaction to hairdye

The daily mail often runs stories about hair dye. People have died from a certain chemical in 99% of dyes, it needs to be banned like other countries.

I remember reading an article last year about someone who suffered an allergic reaction to hair dye, with the same symptoms as the OP's. I remember it well, because I was getting my hair dyed as I was reading it. :eek:

I heard that ''Schwarsofsky'' I know I spelt that wrong! doesnt have the PPD in it ... please look it up if in doubt, its just what I heard, its what I use now. I also thought the dangers were in the dark dyes too.

As I said there is a difference in a patch test and doing the whole head. It is the quantity used. If you have an allergic reaction, there would be more chance of halting it if you have only used a small amount ( ie patch test) than if you have totally overwhelmed your body with doing your whole head.

Ok i'm not impatient but I am defensive...LOL! Sorry!

but on the patch test issue I still think there will be people who are violently allergic and will be overwhelmed even by a small spot of the colour....so what i'm trying to say is the patch test may be useless where it's really needed....if you get my drift....

Do you mean Schwarzkopf?
That's the comapny who made the OP's dye and it does contain PPD.

:eek: yep! Someone said just a few days ago that they were free from the PPD!
It's scary!

Just heard on another thread that the US have banned PPD - so the answer might lie with finding a US online stockist....

Is Phenylenediamine only used in permanent dyes? Because I just looked at the ingredients for a semi-permanent dye I've used a couple of times recently and it doesn't seem to be in it...

Mainly permanent but every semi-permanent i've seen also has it in. Which one do you have without it? Everyone will be interested and expect sales of it will go through the roof! LOL!
