The XXL one? Yup, I have a reaction to that brand but luckily I've used others and I'm fine. THat sounds like a ghastly reaction, have you let the company know?

i reacted to the red XXL one, but nothing like your reaction, i just had a very itchy head for a few weeks. i won't be using that one again!
  • It is horrific to have that severe a reaction to a product and very unlucky to develop an allergy between the time of the skin test and using the dye, but I agree with someone above who said if we banned everything that caused a reaction then there would be nothing left on the market.

Allergies do develop and disappear seemingly at random - I used to have a terrible reaction to pineapple and stayed away from it entirely for years then recently decided to risk it and try a bit recently(because it was the one thing that I couldn't eat and actually missed) and I was fine. At some point in the last five years I just stopped being allergic to it. They come, they go...wish we knew why!

I hope your situation improves and that you feel better soon!
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

I had an allergic reaction to a hair dye earlier this year. Luckily I took some anti-histamines within five minutes of noticing that my eyes and face were starting to swell up. My face went red like sunburn. The test patch on the inside of my elbow didn't react at all so I am a bit sceptical that there is any point of doing the test. Hope you're OK. Later in the year I had a similar reaction to some drain unblocker!

    Eeeek! That sounds horrific!

    Name and shame?

A little unfair really, hair dye reactions are quite a personal thing and something OP has a reaction to is very unlikely to be affecting the majority of consumers.

I've been using this brand on and off for years, my daughter also uses cosmic red and we have never had issues with it.

Whilst OP has my sympathy I don't think its especially fair to blame the manufacturer for her reaction to it.

The Cosmic blue is a very dark black colour so would contain high levels of PPD which may be why you reacted to this shade, when at college we did all skin tests using the darkest colour.
  • Bloody hell, seen your pic, my heart goes out to you. Hope you recover soon. xx
  • Wishing you a smooth recovery, it must have been a horrible suprise to react like that.
    Thank you competition posters!
