  • Did anyone see in the news recently a young girl literally died within 20 minutes of applying hair dye? That is just too scary. I have witnessed someone die suddenly before for a different condition but all i know is it's awful, would love to know the statistics on how many reactions there are to hair dyes.....or does profit have the priority here?

Joey75, so sorry you are having this awful reaction - soon though it will be a bad memory, try to remember that if you can. :-)

I saw somewhere on this site a link to a website for organic hair dye with none of those suspect chemicals in it and a patch test is not necessary. Going to try and find the link. :-)
  • This is the link - i don't know anything about this site though, be intersted if anyone else knows of this site or used the products?

  • Are you sure that your symptoms were caused by the hair dye? Swelling around the brain seems a very extreme reaction, I don't even know how it could happen. If that is what the doctors have said then I don't doubt them, I'm just interested to know if they agree that the dye caused it.

  • another natural PPD free hair dye i came across today is one from the Reflex range of products. Looks good, i've ordered it.

    it's google-able...lol!
  • I would definitely sue.
  • Sorry, no disrespect to the OP, I've not seen your photos, but I have used hair dyes for years and I know what it says about doing a 48 hour test first, I know I've never done it, I've spoken to about 10 women since I saw your post and they don't do that either. We may have been lucky, but I would seek legal advice if I were you xxx
  • I hope the company are taking this seriously! I had a reaction to a different brand once (I nearly passed out despite following all the instructions, well ventilated area etc..). I mentioned it to the company incase I had a dodgy batch or something and I was completely dismissed, they said it couldn't possibly be because of the hair dye and I should go see a doctor. I wasn't angling for compensation or anything, I was merely informing them! Needless to say, I've never touched that brand since and, unsurprisingly, I've never had another reaction! Your experience sounds horrific and I really hope you get the outcome you want.
    Slummy mummy!
