I think the problem using malt vinegar in your washing machine, is I've read that it discolours the rubber.

In any case, I only use clear vinegar for descaling and clean my appliances.

I'm trying to find the cheapest and best vinegar to use on weeds and grass. Supermarkets own brands at 13p a pint is winning at the moment but it's a pain using it a pint at a time. All the glass seems such a waste even if it is recycled.

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

Long-dead post I know, but I've just been to Lidl and got a couple of dozen pints of malt vinegar for 4 quid (17p/568ml)

    Is all White Vinegar malt?

Just bought 5L for £4 in my local Chinese supermarket and want to use it for cleaning windows, dishwasher etc.

But it smells like the normal brown one.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm new to using vinegar for cleaning. Can anyone suggest where to get it cheap? Is it better to buy in large bottles?

    Likewise for baking soda.

I'm in Sheffield if anyone knows of local stores that stock it.

568ml brown vinegar in LIDL is 21pence. Sainsbury is 40pence.
