    I've been Money Tipped!
Hi, I do the same to a degree, gentle washing, styling and trying to take it easy on the straightners etc. But my hair seems very frizzy, split ends and out of condition. I did start colouring my hair myself with the Castings Creme Gloss and my hair was great back then, I did get compliments on it but then after a while it didn't seem the same so I went back to the salon but it is permanent dye they use. I've tried going back to Simple shampoo and conditioner and ditching the salon stuff which is a bit better but I can only say I am happy with my hair when I just come out of the salon and its been styled there, once I wash it myself I have the frizz again, my hair is fine as it is. I was able to grow it more when I did it myself too. The thing is, and I know it sounds daft, but I feel bad about stopping going to the salon after starting up again. I had to cancel last week's appointment as I am unwell so I am wondering whether to just not rebook.

Another thing about DIY colouring, I did find that my hair went darker each time and the hairdresser said the semi permanent colours do become permanent after a while of using them. They are much cheaper though.

What products to you use on your hair by the way?

I wouldn't feel bad about not re booking, customers must come and go all the time. She probably wouldn't even notice. I think I have used loving care in the past, its a semi permanent dye that last 6 weeks. I have just looked on the clairol web site and they have a new product called Natural instincts which is supposed to be less damaging, I am going to try this one next time.
If your hair went darker each time could you not choose a lighter shade and see how it turns out?

Hi, I've just looked at the Clairol website, that new colour looks good, thanks for recommending. It seems there are two, one that lasts for eight weeks and one that lasts for 28 shampoos. Is it semi permanent as it doesn't say on the site?

I think the vibrant one is more permanent and the other demi- permanent, but best to check on the pack in the shop before buying!:)
