Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 18th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning.....
Today is the day!!!

Hope you all slept well and that lack of the thread is because you are all still sleeping x
Hugs xx

ETA =Please merge the two threads - great minds and all that x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning Molly & all who cross & follow.
Fingers crossed for everyone who gets their results today.
I did well & slept til 5:15, I've had a temporary fix done on my car so have taken hubby to the station & stopped at Tesco on the way home to buy some boned breast of lamb, £2.38, I shall cut it into strips cook it on a bed of stuffing & get at least 4 meals out of it for the 2 of us.
I have 2 carrier bags of cooking apples to prepare today, I shall make apple cake, apple curd, apple & chilli jelly & apple & blackberry crumble with the very small amount of blackberries I picked yesterday.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Take 2 at going for drinks with my friend tonight! Hope she turns up this time!

Morning Molly and all who follow,
been waiting for someone to start the thread, up at 4.45 as I didn't want to wake DH with my coughing. BM & WM on. Managed to sort tax hickup y/day it took me ages. Bloody HMRC trying to sting me £100 for late payment when I did tax return online and payed before the deadline.

Well I've had enough of shuffling around with aching bones, eyes streaming and clutching handkies, just can't shift whatever I have.
DH is off to do more work again on DD!'s bathroom, will it never end?

MEANMARIE, I looked at your link you sent me for the tiles, unfortunately they want £25 del. as I don't meet the min order for free del. But thanks anyway.

    Morning all,

Had a lovely couple of days at my parents. We all went to see Harry Potter which I really enjoyed and the children spent a great morning working on the allotment and were rewarded with tons of fruit and vegetables. Lots of preparing and freezing to do today.

I am off to school this morning to be there when my pupils get their A level results. I am so nervous you would think I was getting my results but they all worked so hard and deserve to do well.

DD1 and DD2 are off on separate sleepovers tonight so the house will be quiet again, briefly!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning everyone

Good luck to all those awaiting exam results x

Overcast and very dull here but dry at the moment. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Pleased to be finished work, now need to get stuck into the list of chores so we are ready to go on holiday on Saturday. Have a huge pile of ironing to do, then want to give the house the once over, will need to pack and take some clothes to the caravan this will create extra boot space for the last minute items. Will be doing a food shop tomorrow so we have some supplies in the caravan, I'll then stock up as we go through the week, I have a reasonable size fridge in the caravan but it's not like a fridge at home. We'll be cooking outside on the gas bbq quite a bit, hopefully the weather is going to be kind to us. Would like to get to the beach a few days.

Feeling brighter this morning, think I'm just in need of some proper r&r, quality time with DH and boys, away from normal routine, also going to try to get some herbal remedy/vitamins - will see if these make any difference. Dinner tonight will be toad in the hole, pots, veg and gravy, victoria sponge for dessert for those that want it.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
