Oooh cant wait for you to test! Would be good for one of us todays testers to have a bfp :-D

Anyone know the treatment for low progesterone levels? I'm convinced that's whats caused me to have spotting for up to a week before af since coming off the pill. And that "might" be why I can't hold/support a pregnancy. Gonna give it 6 months before going to the gp as I dont think they will be interested if i go before. Any vitamins/herbal etc I can try?

I do think you're probably worrying unnessisarily, you've only been at it for a few cycles and there is only a 25%-30% chance of catching on any one cycle and on average it takes a couple 5 months to conceive. However if you're concerned Evening Primrose Oil is fab for balancing out the hormones, but only take it till OV as it can cause increased risk of miscarriages after. My bottle says take 1 3 times a day so that's 3000mg a day. They also make more EWCM.

I do know the feeling when you're looking down the graduates list thinking 'but they all started trying after I did!' but everything happens in its own time and just because it doesn't happen straight away isn't any cause to get nervous.

Someone asked if CD1 ever gets any easier - well tbh I think it does. I don't actually expect a BFP any more, I know how much I want this now, and I feel a lot more prepared for it coming than I did at first as I used to think 'ooh my nipples are sore I must be pg' or 'I've been really hungry this week, thats a sign' but now I know it can be a sign of either, and I watch my temps and that prepares me for what is to come. I'm sure as time goes on I'll start getting worked up again that its not happening, but right now I'm pretty calm that it takes as long as it takes and stressing about it won't help a bean to settle in.

I hope my post doesn't come across as aimed at anyone in particular (well except Rebekkah with the vitamin talk) but I just thought it might help some TTcers who are getting worked up there is a 'problem' after only 2 or 3 cycles. I read the other day that 96% of 25 year olds and 89% of 30 year olds are pg after a year of trying so the likelihood is it will happen so just enjoy the journey.

Thank you good advise for all! I'll try the vitamins. Tbh I think this might be what it is. It's the spotting that concerns and annoys me more than the fact we haven't convieved yet. If that can settle then I will be happier that everything is in order.
Anyone know if you can take primrose oil and B vitamins at the same time?

my spotting before af has stopped after taking vit B complex this month. I'm not sure it was caused by low progesterone though as I don't seem to have any of the other symptoms. Maybe worth a shot though, I think they were only £3 or so from amazon.

Love the pics DJ, you two look so happy. Congratulations and thanks for sharing :)

ETA Superdrug are one of the most sensitive tests around (detects 10 wotsits of HCG compared to 15-20 for a lot of the main brands I think). Good luck!

Yea i'm the same as you but I still wonder at times. As my temps are generally ok. They tend to only dip in the later few days which is normal. This is why i'm mega confused and worried! Did it give you more eggwhite too? As I have lacked that this month only on the day of ovulation did I have any!

Rebekah, agnus castus is also good for luteal phase defects, but speaking as someone who has had major infertility problems and years of fertility treatments and investigations in the past, in my opinion you would be absolutely bonkers to take anything at all to mess around with your natural cycle, until your body has had a chance to recover properly from taking the pill. I think you would cause many more problems for yourself than you would solve. I know this is not what you want to hear, but I would leave it at least 6 months from your last contraceptive pill before considering taking anything more dramatic than folic acid. In the meantime you can temp, and if your gap between ovulation and AF is consistently less than 10 days then you may have an issue which needs to be addressed. With luck though, you will have conceived naturally by this point anyway.

The vast majority of women have a degree of hormonal upset after taking the pill for a while, and this usually sorts itself out without any intervention. Herbal concoctions such as agnus castus, epo etc are all really unpredictable in terms of how they work, so if your cycle didnt go back to normal after 6 months, and you had been taking anything like this on top, where would your doctor start in untangling all of this for you, and getting you started on a regime which might work for you.

Sorry to be blunt. I am also desparate to be pregnant quickly following the miscarriage, but I know from bitter and long experience that sometimes you do just have to play the waiting game however hard that is

Nikki I am on my 18th cycle since coming off the pill last July. July 2010. I am lucky my phase is not short but normal. Is is the spotting every single day from 7 before my period is due that concerns me and is not normal for me. I never had this prepill and have has this almost every cycle for the past 18 months. Thank you for you views though. I will research more.
  • Well I know it's a bit early but I think I'm going to try a Poundland test tonight. :)
