Heya girls, I need a bit of TMI advice here.

Went to visit my donor, but he didn't really produce much, and I was having a nightmare trying to get it into the syringe (really thick and lumpy). I added a little water which seemed to help, and managed to get it all in. Is this ok? Will water damage the sperm in any way? Should I use something else instead?

Also, when I removed the syringe after depositing the sperm, it sort of sucked it all back out again  is there anyway of making it stay in there short of leaving the syringe in for half an hour?

Sorry if this is all TMI but I have no idea who I can ask about these things :rotfl: I'm meeting him again tomorrow and Sunday, so hopefully todays disaster wont affect my chances too much.

You could try 'conceive plus'? Im not sure if water is good or bad. I know saliva is supposed to be bad.

I'm sure there will be others with more direct experience to advise, but I found this and thought it might help http://fertilityplus.com/faq/homeinsem.html - it runs through the various options so if the syringe isn't working well for you, maybe give one of the other methods a try? Also, they recommend using saline (with no additives) if donations need to be, ahem, diluted; but I don't think water will have done anything horrendous. Hope all the hard work leads to a beautiful baby-shaped success story ;)

Thanks, that was really useful :) looks like I was pulling it out too quickly, need to leave it in for a min and pull it out really slowly. I have a bottle of saline spray lying around somewhere, so I'll use that to dilute it - way to thick to get into the syringe without help.

Hi ladies. I've had a bit of a browse through the thread and it's so lovely the amount of support you're all giving each other x
I've tried to follow all the abbreviations, but just can't fathom most of them, even after looking them up at the start of the thread, lol.
I was just wondering if you'd be able to help me? I came off the implanon implant back in november and haven't used any form of contaception since. DH and I had hoped that I'd be pregnant by now, given that dd was concieved just 3mths after contraception stopped, but nothing so far.
we already consider ourselves very lucky, especially as with DH's ex wife he was told he was pretty much infertile and was on the waiting list for ivf.
The thing that I'm sure isn't helping is that although AF is extremely regular my cycle is pretty short. I bleed for 4-5 days every 21 days. Before implanon I was a 4 week girl.
Do any of you have any advice on how to lengthen the cycle or indeed if that even has any impact? We do BD most days (i did get some of the abbreviations ;)).

    Hello, I'm back:wave:
Had a lovely time with my sister:)
Big thank you to abis for updating the listst4405.gif
And congratulations on starting TTC again:j
I'm a middle child and have an older sister who's 6 years older. I don't have the same relationship as with my 2 years younger sister, but still had loads of fun:) A lot easier to talk to about puberty/boyfriends than with my mum:p

Only skim read, but welcome to miss maid & amyloofoo:wave:
And welcome & congrats to binkyboo:)

Massive hugs to those who were caught by the evil witch:(
    smiley_hug.gif
    Let's all graduate by Christmas:rudolf:

MV, hope your DH is recovering OK (((hugs))).
    TeamLowe, that embroidery looks gorgeous:T
RazWaz, have a great baby making weekend:wave:
maire, welcome back (((hugs))). I think you count the last day of bleeding as CD1 after mc, but it's up to you.
When I had mc, I kept getting +hpt, so waited for a couple of AFs to test again.
Tea Lover, glad you are not having any side effects from Metformin:) Follicle tracking is time consuming, but it can be fun looking at what could possibly become your future baby:happyhear
Tinkwings, when do you get the blood tests results?
    Those lavender hearts are lovely:happyhear
atton, (((hugs))). You did get pg before, you will again. And you will make a great mum:)
Birdie, fingers crossed for the blood test results:)
lilymay, how exciting having someone you knew on the Olympics team:cool: As for the FS appt, make sure you bring your charts. It'll probably be all chat. Possibly making appts for blood tests.
As you have been pg before, I don't think there's any problem with you, or if there was, it'll be probably something tiny:)
You can increase luteal by taking Vit B complex vitamins.
    Squ1rrels, :rotfl:at being horny:D
Why not forget about norethisterone, and just go for it?
mrshappy, good luck on your DH's knee op:o
    codemonkey, wine during 2ww?
needhelpsaving, it's not over 'till the witch shows (((hugs)))
RazWaz, if you leave the sperm for a while, it gets watery. I've done 3 IUIs, and with that I have 1hr to take the sperm to the clinic.
Don't know about water. Ask your donor to drink plenty of non caffeinated fluid next time:o
lisakay, cycle length between 21-42 days are perfectly normal.
Luteal length (between ovulation and AF) needs to be at least 10 days for the egg to have a chance of implanting:)

Razwaz I read somewhere before of a lady who'd pop it in a moon cup type thing, the name of which I can't remember, then pop that up and let the sperms swim freely lol she also mixed it with actual egg white but I don't think that's a good idea x x

Morning QQ, lovely to see you back. How was the week with your sister? What did you get up to?

I've been taking B6 and Agnus Castus to try and lengthen LP but in 4 months they've done nothing so It doesn't look like its doing anything.

I'm fairly sure it's me with the issue rather than OH. After all, he hasn't changed at all since we last conceived where as I've been through an entire pregnancy, been in medicated prem labour, had a c-section, put on and then lost weight etc etc. Hopefully you are right and that it's very small :)
