    Cd1. :(

I have a question. I'm not asking for medical advice, just opinions and experiences. I have, for the past 7 or 8 cycles, had bad cramping for at least 6 days before af, followed by very light, very short af. (2 days not enough to need anything more than a lite tampon).

What could this mean? Is it normal or would a docs appt be necessary?

Hi maire1, I have had very light periods in the past (not the cramping though) and in my case it meant that my womb lining was not very thick (there is a minimum thickness for successful implantation - and a maximum). In my case, this was caused by a hormone imbalance and was (one of the) reasons I wasn't conceiving.

If you have been ttc for a long while, I would say it's worth a go seeing your GP, but if you're not TTC I don't personally think it would indicate a problem. The GP probably won't be much use though TBH unless you have a great GP, you'd probably need to see a gynaecologist.

For my thin womb lining problems, I was advised to take 1 junior aspirin a day, and this solved that problem. But junior aspirin is not for everyone, so I wouldn't recommend taking it without a doctor's consent...

((hugs)) for cd1 maire Not sure re: the cramping and light AF - although I know that I have noticed pre-AF cramps a lot more since ttc, I think because I am looking out for it.

I meant to ask the other day about low temps as I know there was some discussion of it. How low is a problem? Or is that like asking how long's a piece of string?? I'm always cold, and even my high temps after ov. aren't particularly high when I look at other people's charts.

What can I do to warm up?? I'd love to be able to feel my feet lol.

I had quite low temps during TTC, typically they were 35.9 - 36.4 before ovulation and 36.4 - 36.7 after ovulation. My acupuncturist was quite concerned about them, but they never did go up any higher, and I conceived two babies with my temps in this range. I also had fertility treatment, but that's an unrelated story!!!

    Hi everyone!

Newbie here, came off microgynen 16th April so early days for me.

What do you all think about letting others know you're ttc? Hubby and I have decided not to tell anyone, feel like there'll be less pressure that way.

Could someone give me a quick rundown of your abreviations? Some of them I get but some I have no idea :)

hi msnigella :hello: there's probably a list somewhere but I'll post the ones I can remember...

CD - cycle day (ie. where you are in your menstrual cycle, the first day of your period is CD1)
    DPO - days past ovulation
2ww - 2 week wait, ie. between ovulation and your period.
    AF - period
    BD / DTD - sex
    TTC - trying to conceive
    OH/DH - other half, husband
    CM - cervical mucus
EWCM - egg-white cervical mucus (the good stuff lol)
FF - fertility friend. Website a lot of us use for charting temperatures etc.
    ov - ovulation
    temp/temping - taking your temperature
    BBT - basal body temperature
FS - fertility specialist (hopefully you won't need that one)

I'm sure someone will be along soon with a proper list. :D

    msnigella, welcome !!
We havent told anyone we are TTC, I dont think I could deal with people asking me when will it happen etc...
Mind you my 4yo decided it is a secret to say that i have got a baby in my tummy, i just bought a few things cheap from Tesco to sell on a car boot sale and she brought the box, asking us if this was for her baby brother that is in my tummy ? I really do not know where she gets this from, we know she is dying to have a brother/sister and has taken us a long time to decide to have one, havent told her either... I am just imagining now she is telling all the school that i am pregnant ( i am not ) and to keep it a secret... lol

Hugs for CD1 Marie. Always hard.

I have very light periods too, maybe 2 days and perhaps a tiny bit after, but not enough for a tampon to be necessary. They have become lighter as I have gotten older, although I can't really say that for sure as I was on the pill for most of my twenties and early thirties. I think you can take some other vitamins that would help, with minimal side effects.

Someone else may help with the name of the book which tells you which vitamins will help with specific problems when ttc. Anyone?

Welcome to MsNigella. Hopefully you stay is short and sweet. I haven't told anyone I am trying, although I did find out from a friend that she knew we were having trouble, and I get the impression this has been gossiped about which I was less than impressed with.

AFM* - I will think about testing tonight. I can't not drink for the rest of the day, how else can I have a decent excuse to obsessively go to the loo on operation knicker check! And operation 'poking b00bs' to see if they still hurt (and probably make them hurt!) I am the ultimate symptom inventor. :D

    * As for me.
