Trying for a Baby Part 7

Lilymay, I don't know anything about babies, but walking at 5 months sounds very early
That's what the health visitor said. She told me not to let him because it may cause problems with his legs (sound's like rubbish to me) but he screams if I don't let him stand up
So sorry to hear about your MIL. I really hope she is okay and that the op goes well.
I don't know how many people use this board, but I would like to guess at 9 BFP's this month. Is that too many?14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -

How old are your children?0 -
Oh dear, I just went to the Post Office and the lady behind the counter was heavily pregnant and I nearly cried. She is the most lovely, smiley lady ever and wished me a really Happy Easter. I was a strange mixture of being really happy for her and really wanting it to be me!
I also keep imagining scenarios where I tell people I'm pregnant. I was imagining telling my boss on the way home in the car last night and my legs went all wobbly because I felt so excited about the prospect of being pregnant one day.
Think I need to get a grip
ETA: Would not recommend imaginging those scenarios when driving. Wobbly legs = poor clutch control...0 -
Babies knows what they can and cannot do:p
No, that's a perfect number, same as me:cool:
How old are your children?
My son is 5 and a half months old (born 10/2011). My daughter would have been nearly 18 months old if she had lived (born 10/2010 - passed away at 3 days old).
MrsJ - Firstly I'm impressed you were brave enough to go into a Post Office. I HATE those places! Secondly, your little confession made me smile. I really hope it happens for you soon!14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
There's a lot of BD'ing going on - 3 times in one day  - lunchtime quickies :T.
Don't think either of us could cope with the first & we are usually 80 miles apart for work, so it wouldn't be so quick for the second!
In case anyone is interested/ considering acupuncture I thought I would give you a quick update on my appointment.
I was there in total for about an hour (£35 but subsequent appointments will be £30). He works from a consulting room in his home & seems quite laid back about the length of time of appointment.
First 10/15 mins were questions about me/ health/ diet/ exercise etc. I then laid on a therapy bed & he put the needles in.
There was one in each hand, one in each foot, three just below my belly button & 3 in each leg (between knee & ankle). It felt like a quick tap for each one going in.
The one in my right hand gave me a bit of pain but the others could hardly be felt at all.
He then left me with dimmed lights/ music to relax for about 20/25 mins. He came back in & turned each needle & left me for another 10 mins. Again the right hand one felt a bit painful.
He came back in, took them out & wiped over the puncture sites (couldn't see more than a pin !!!!!).
Have booked again for 12 days time & then weekly - mutual availability meant we couldn't do any earlier.
Felt relaxed after - more because I was forced to lay still for 45 mins - don't do that very often. He said I am unlikely to feel anything different afterwards.
There's differing schools of thought on whether or not it has any effect, but nothing ventured & all that! He did say that he would recommend it weekly to have effect, so it isn't cheap.
He said he has treated many women for fertility issues who have gone on to have babies (including his partner), but also acknowledged that you will never know if the needles played a part or not.0 -
Be prepared for the needles to be in completely different places next time TTC. I'm on my 10th session now (going weekly) and its been different each time. Yesterday I had 3 in my forehead, 1 in each hand, 3 in tummy, 1 on each inner ankle and 1 on the top of each foot. The ones in the head and tummy did hurt going in I'll confess but were fine once in. I often find ones in the back of the hand hurt for the whole 30 minutes though.0

Not sure personally what I think of Acupuncture. But if you feel more relaxed afterwards then it's worth it.
I keep wondering about getting a massage sometime off one of my friends but I've never had one. I just feel uptight all the time at the moment, and that seems to have overspilled over the last couple of days.
I don't know whether it was coming to the realisation that I have to make a choice between two things close to my heart. Adoption something I've always wanted to do, or having a birth child. Doesn't seem that the 2 meet up mutually at the same time. I'm defintely not ready to accept and having got some advice it seems like you will only be accepted if you have defintely given up on a birth child. I want the pregnancy, the fat tummy, the stretch marks, all of that.
Oh well at least I've got some time with OH, he's got 10 days off from friday, so gives us some time to talk things through. Going to be a wierd week, party at my mates, trophy night as OH's pool team won the league, my friend's funeral (which I am now working at the wake), and another friend's baby's christening. What a week! Think I will feel every emotion going.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -

I know of someone who was told it was basically not going to happen naturally. So they adopted. Then she got pregnant, I they have 3 kdis now. It doesnt mean you can't ever try - and you dont have to tell them - and obviously not if it was years down the line. I also saw a show before where a couple adopted who said they were able to have kids, they just wanted to adopt instead. I dont think you need to shut off the idea 100%. Just maybe have to prioritise one or the other at a specific time? I mean I dont think just cos youre going down an adoption route it means you need to go on the pill or whatever!
Maybe it also depends on the social worker someone had - I remember watching that tv show a while ago on the bbc, and this one woman was obsessed with the couple agreeing to maybe have a pet dog, because the 2 girls they were hoping to adopt would like a dog. They had a meeting and the guy who I think was her boss, basically told her to get on with it and stop faffing about. I mean how ridiculous would it be for the girls to delay getting parents all because they werent 100% sure on getting a blimmin dog! I mean Im sure lots of wonderful parents dont want dogs for various reasons! :mad:0 -
yeh I know there would be the option to have a natural child one day. I still think there's too many faults in the adoption process, like proving you are over a miscarriage if you've had one in the past, BMI too high. I really hope that these proposed changes happen, to make it easier for potential adopters. I understand making it difficult so not every Tom, !!!!!! and Harry can adopt, but they seem to be putting off potential adopters with the current process.
I'm going to still meet with them when they call back for a house visit. But carry on as normal, as it seems they will find any excuse. And to honest we are likely to be turned down as 1. We are both overweight, 2. I do have a crafty fag now and again 3. well you get the gist. Maybe it's just me being 'paranoid' as per usual.
Wow on the dog thing. Why would someone delay children getting a good solid home, just because the children would like a dog?
Sorry I've been such a moaning !!!!!! recently. I just think it's the realisation that I've now been off the birth control (and by that I mean all birth control) for 9 years. And apart from one pregnancy (miscarriage) nothing has happened, and even that was 6 years ago now. The doctor will only count the time that we have been officially trying with opk's, timing and everything, not the time I've been ntnp. I know 6 months (of opks/ cbfm) isn't very long in ttc terms, but I still can't ignore in my head the ntnp times.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -
