Welcome Cherrydrop. It's a good forum to be on.

Are you going to start tracking your cycles? If you BD regularly you may not want to.

Back from nails & massage. Both were lovely - especially as the nails was a KGB deals bargain which I bought a while ago & the massage was a voucher which OH won in a raffle. So just cost me in tips.

Snow coming down in South Yorkshire & need to go out again so hoping it doesn't get worse.

    Happy Saturday everyone.

    Welcome cherrydrop

Do you know how long your cycles are? If you count the first day of your period as CD1, then generally people ovulate around CD12-16 (not the whole time, somewhere in that period). You can check it by doing your temperatures (temping) or do what I do, the low tech version, which is check your CM (cervical mucus). When it is stretchy and like egg white (EWCM) then you are fertile and need to get to it lol.

I do SMEP (sperm meets egg plan) which is a plan for when to have sex throughout your cycle to maximise your chance of getting PG without exhausting you both! Although it is still quite demanding.

  • congratulations Welshgirl !

QQ I doesn't matter to me but my BFP was on 2nd Feb, just so we did actually get one a day so far in Feb. Hoping for someone to get the 4th today!

I'm telling my parents tomorrow. In a similar way to telling my OH,I have bought a New Grandchild photo album and wrapped it in a gift bag. Soooo excited about telling them!
  • Hi bigzippy, TTC40 & skintchick - i'm trying not to get too obsessed with it all as don't want to scare DH! I can normally recognise when I am ov as I always notice EWCM so try to BD a lot around that time but we can only really manage every other day for about 6 days so about 2-3 times during ov then maybe once or twice either side? so not much BD'ing going on :o

I don't track my cycles at all though so may start slowly, ease myself in ;) When AF arrives I will count that as CD1 (is that right?) and then when I start noticing EWCM does that count as 1dpo?

I have looked at SMEP and it's seemed like a good idea the past 3 months, we start well but it tails off, I wish we had a more regular BD pattern but it just doesnt seem to happen, as soon as my head hits the pilow i'm out like a light. Maybe we need to try more exciting ventures :D

I'm down South in Hampshire waiting for the snow, no sign yet though, hoping i'll get snowed in so no work for me tomorrow, don't see it happening though! x

Welcome cherrydrop - nice to have another newbie on the thread! Hope your stay will be short and sweet :)

I think there are lots of us on here who can sympathise with not managing to BD nearly as much as we'd like to - DH and I have been managing every other day around OV (although I said to him today if I'm not pregnant this month then we might have to step it up and go for every day around OV!!). I go by CM to work out when OV arrives - I think I usually OV the same day as I notice lots of EWCM, and then the following day I count as 1DPO (which is when I usually get slightly swollen boobs too!). Everybody is different and some people will get EWCM for a few days.

Anyway, enough rambling, hope you are all keeping warm in this chilly weather, I am feeling so thankful to have a nice warm home and to be able to afford to pay the heating bills (we are not big earners by any means, but I am just feeling very lucky not to have to worry too much about putting the heating on when it's really cold). And we have just switched to a cheaper tarrif (thanks to :money: of course!) which makes things easier... plus the free case of wine and £100 argos vouchers which arrived last week..... :j Ok, now I am really going off piste (totters off to go and find a suitable thread to gloat about my vouchers on :rotfl:)

p.s. would it be SSing to say that my boobs are really big (I'm thinking 13 year old's chest instead of 11 year old's) and my special bottom (:rotfl:) has been really sore for a couple of days?

Mind you, the amount I keep squeezing and poking my boobs to check how big or small they are has probably made them swell up! Hurry up Tuesday so I can either get AF and get on with the next cycle... or do a test...

    Hello Cherrydrop

I'm very similar to you! Also got married in July 2011, and came off the pill beginning of November 2011, and my last AF started on 4th Jan. And I too had a BFN this morning too :( Well done you on that being your first test!! Think that was about my 20-25th test, lol! And you think you're obsessive :rotfl:

QQ - my DH is very lovely indeed :D He was the one delaying the TTC (I would have started a long time ago as the broodiness is so strong this time round) so I was slightly worried he wouldn't be all that into it. But he has been an angel. Very supportive and excited about it all. I'm a very lucky lady :j

Mrsj - congrats on your wins! Hope you get a BFP on tuesday.

I think I might test again on monday, seeing as AF should have started by then. No sign of her yet, so I would like to remain cautiously optimistic. Well - really - I would like to try not to think about it cos my little head ties itself up in knots. But I doubt that will happen so cautious optimism is the best I can go for, lol!

Going for a soak in the bath with a good book and a hot choc - aaahhh, bliss :)
 Married my lobster in July 2011

TTC # 2 since Oct 2011 - good things come to those who wait :o

 2013 is going to be our lucky year

Aww QQ that's a great idea. I'm going to do that! Thanks :D

I think I'm due October 11th but have my first doctors appointment on the 13th to confirm.
