Morning everyone. Typing from the bath this time as it's just after 6am and don't want to wake DH, but my ears hurt so much I can't sleep. I think I have a completely new question - what does it mean when the babymad thermometer beeps really fast? It sounds more like an alarm clock than the usual gentle beep. I'm wondering if it's 'holy crap you're hot, see a doctor' as this morning I was 38.17C, usually I'm 36.65-36.85 after OV so its a pretty huge jump. I took it 3 times to be sure I hadn't misread it and it just kept getting higher.

Sounds like you have a fever kaemi. It's probably beeping at you to alert you to the fact you have a temperature. Take some paracetemol to bring your temp down and don't wear too many layers. Have you been shivering? When in bed keep the covers off until you temp has come down. Sorry you feel poorly on holiday.

    xx

Are you OK? Think it may be time to wake your DH.

You definitely have a temperature. It's pretty high.
    You do know 38.1c = 100.6F?
    Do you have paracetamol?

Thanks Emsbet, I figured that would be it. Yep I was randomly shivering all yesterday - I was even wearing a cardi at one point despite it being around 25C. I'm in a fairly cool bath, as it takes the aches away. Due to have a massage tomorrow but right now I can't imagine lying face down fr an hour and a half without needing to get up every few seconds to wipe my nose! DH is trying to get me to stay in bed and recover for a day, but it seems like such a waste of New York time.

DH dragged me shopping yesterday (odd way around I know!) to this discount place down near Wall Street, sort of like TKMax but with much better designers. We ended up spending about £500, but we got some amazing deals including a huge and a big Calvin Klein hard suitcase with multi-directional wheels (the wheels on ours actually melted on the way over here, which is impressive considering its a month old) for around £140 for the two, and a French Connection long wool ladies coat down from £335 to around £80, nine west clutch purse for £19 (really needed as mine was free with a magazine 4 years ago and has seen better days!) two Calvin Klein dresses for £40 each (I'd pay that for a Topshop dress so for the quality I'm over the moon) and lots of boy jumpers, trousers, ties etc. Oh and a Ted Baker watch for my brothers 21st down to £37ish rather than £95. So even if our big suitcase hadn't melted we'd have needed a second one just to take home all the shopping. DH has been saving up his mystery shopping money too and has told me tomorrow I'm getting a 'posh' pair of shoes - don't know if I want a nice everyday pair or a pair for best that is rarely worn though. Decisions decsisons.

Sorry for nattering, DH still asleep and I'm bored.

ETA is 100.6F bad? Only ibruprofen atm, I'll wake him up after 8am to go get some paracetamol if that will help. Thanks x

Sounds like you got some good bargains!

Try take it easy today then you should recover quicker. Get some paracetemol down you and if you can get hold of one, a small fan (or turn the air con up). It sounds odd when you are shivering but it will bring your temp down and make you feel better.

When I was in hospital with glandular fever I had a really high temp and was shivering like had. The nurse came over and took all my covers off me and put a massive fan next to me on full blast. I thought she was crazy but it worked and I felt much better.

    Afternoon all,

Sorry for the late reply to the question QQ - No courgette cake isn't very green, as you grate the courgette, and there is only 150g in the cake, so it looks like a plain sponge, with tiny flecks of green if you look closely. The flesh of the courgette seems to melt into the cake so you you can't see it at all - that and the grated apple just serve to make it really moist.

The reason I've popped on late, is that the neighbour turned up at 11! Luckily I was dressed as I'd just washed my hair, but the carpet downstairs was a mess, and the sofas were in disarray too. She loved the courgette cake, and asked for the recipe, and told her mum all about it on the phone. Apparently she's been wanting to try it for ages because she heard Fern Cotton talking on the radio about making some. :D

She seems really nice - she's a few years younger than me, and thinks she may remember my sister from primary school as my sister was in the year above her at school. Hopefully we'll be able to do coffee again soon. :p

Hugs for all of the poorlies - I'm actually feeling a bit better since having my shower, as I'm not bunged up any more, and the positive of the neighbour coming early, is that I've got the afternoon to go and get a birthday present for my friend. I'm going up to Hyde Park in London with her tomorrow for a picnic lunch and rowing/pedaloes on the lake, and the weather looks like it's going to be good, so should be lovely. :T Just hope we don't get too wet, as my rowing skills are fairly lacking! Maybe I should take a towel.:rotfl:

Well I'd better stop waffling on, as all of this is off topic. :o

Sucessful babydancing or waiting or testing for all,

    sexymouse xx
