Same here ..I had the same diagnosis from a similarly unhelpful doctor. I swear they think that because hairloss in itself isn't an illness they are less than interested. I don't think they appreciate what it can do to a womans mind.0 -
Oh I meant to say - as well as my new routine of b12 and L-lynsine tablets which arrived today, and I am cracking on with: - has anyone tried that Alpecin caffine shampoo? It's advertised on the tele as 'german enginnering for hair!'
I brought some a couple of days ago, to try it out..a fiver a bottle. But as I only wash my hair once a week (at most - eeek) one bottle will last me months. It does smell a bit rank...yknow like cheap mens aftershave! You are meant to leave it on your head for at least two mins - and I swear you can feel something happening, like a tingling feeling..which only happend around my bald and thinning areas? Doing some good? We will see. It does tell you to wash every day with it, but theres no way im going to put myself through the horrors of a daily hair was lol!
Love to you all x0 -
Girls I do empathise with our hair loss problem ME TOO! Have decided to cut hair much shorter (chin length now) and I don't wash it very often try to go at least 2 weeks without washing it I use Baptiste dry shampoo it is a godsend it makes my hair feels and smell clean and it feels much thicker with the dry shampoo i it honestly I spray it on liberally and just pat it in and then brush with a tangle teaser brush it gets all tanglesout and doen't drag on your hair. My hair still leaves a lot to be desired but it isn't so noticeable hth and good luck me dears ! xxxxxXx-Sukysue-xXx0

I have always had very fine hair, when I was little the hairdressers always told my mum it would thicken up....it didn't
I have lost a lot of hair at my temples, I now have a very pronounced widows peak. The rest of my hair is very thin on the ground, although I can't say I have noticed it falling out, it just seems to go!
I have never been able to grow my hair, it gets to just below neck length then stops. My hair colour was dark brown but not been that since I was about 18 :rotfl: I colour it myself and have found it is better to be blonde than brown, I camouflage the thinness by sticking loads of 'product' as its called nowadays on, this means I can pull bits over the ever widening gaps, I know that one day there will be a voice inside of me say,, hey it won't stretch any further, at the moment, it looks ok to the outside world, but I know what is (or actually isnt!) underneath!whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Little Ole Me I said i'd report back on the above I've been using the treatment for 4 weeks no visible difference, so save your money.
Hope everything is working out ok.“Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.” – Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory0 -
Mine fell out when I had chemo, but it didn't bother me at all as I'd had far too many bad hair days to care. Plus I had other priorities at the time & a bald head was the least of my worries. I saved on shampoo, conditioner, mouse, gel, hair cut, hair colour, straightener, hair dryer. A few years down the line my HRT can cause hair loss, but I just keep it short & there's no noticable bald patches at the moment. If there was I wouldn't hesitate to shave it off. You could always get a wig, or wear a hat to go out in.0

Hello:o
I really empathise with some of your posts. My hair is not as bad as some of the posts, so I suppose I am quite lucky. However, i used to pull my hair back very very tight when I was younger as I did alot of ballett and dancing, this has left me with what I think they call traction alopecia, now it is not very very bad but on the right hand side at the bottom of my hairline there is a 3-4cm length patch just missing.
It means that I now cannot wear my hair in a highish ponytail, it always has to be low which really frustrates me.
Its also very very thin on the right hand side. There is little patches of sort of baby hair where it is coming back, but I swear there are just plain bald patches where I think it is gone forever
I am pregnant atm so would have to check what shampoo I could use, I would be interested to see how the alpacin (?) is working though? A fiver doesnt sound bad.
I hope all you others can find at least some comfort in other peoples stories, I have.Little Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

Thanks so much for coming back and updating on your treatment. Seeing as you have paid for it, it may well be worthwhile persisting with it for a while longer.
I know some treatments such as regaine, advise you to use for 6 months before any visible results are seen.
I am not having any luck I am afraid. Things getting worse by the day. I am persisting with my B Vitimins and L-Lynsine, and my smelly (alpecin) shampoo in the hope that something might just start working, but notr as yet0 -
Has anyone tried Toppik http://www.hair123.co.uk/ . It looks very good on the before and after pics but dont want to waste my money if its no good.0
