I do, in a bad way. It began as pregnancy related hair loss, then stress related. That's what doctors have put it down to anyhow, tried medicated and over the counter remedies with no sucess and now have my hair cut very very short. Luckily it suits me! I now only wash it every morning, comb it once then leave it be to stop it falling out, which is so far working but I daren't try grow it or put any strain on it for fear it will all fall out! Ontop of which when it all fell out before, it grew back ginger. Which again, I like but bizarre!
• On todays Groupon, there is a lazercomb at £149 which is 62% off the regular price

Anyone ever tried a lazer comb?

Im very tempted, as these are cheap. But dont want to waste money. Ive read very mixed reviews.

The deals only on for another 9 hours! Need to decide before tonight argh

any opinions would be valuable, cheers

I'm sitting here crying after washing my hair and it's still coming out, the thinner it gets the greasier so it needs washing every day (although I try to leave it longer if I'm not going out), I always had really thick hair and now it's so thin I can see my scalp.

It's another 3 weeks till I see the gynae (although what can they do?), I'm assuming from reading other's posts that there is nothing they will give me to sort this out? What about hormone replacement sort of thing?

Can't I just get the ovary removed? And not start the menopause if I've still got the other?

Same with me, I want my hair and teeth! :)

I have always noticed other peoples teeth when I talk to them - it has always been one of the things I first notice abotu a person if they have good teeth or not (weird arent I lol) - and since this hair loss thing - I always look at other peoples hair, other women in particular, to see if there are any signs of hairloss. Its like I have just wanted to know I am not alone.

Ps your hair looks awesome in your pic, I would kill for a barnett like yours

Thank you, that photo is about a year old, it was thinning then but wasn't too bad. I'm wondering whether having it long is making the thinning more obvious, I might get a lot cut off it.

Zoe - *hugs* please dont cry, I've been at that stage myself and know how hard it is. They may give you tablets for the PCOS, I cant take them (tried and turns out Im allergic) but if its any consolation, I think the hair thing tends to come and go. There are treatments you can try for the condition - and also, my doctor suggested getting my hair cut short when I was having problems, like yours, my hair was very long and I had it cut several times, and coupled with using the shampoo it grew back thicker and stronger. Its quite long at the moment (my avatar pic was taken on Saturday, thats how it is at the moment) and its good at the moment despite having highlights in it.
Please dont lose heart - I know how heartbreaking it is and how difficult it is to come through but dont give up - you will get there, hopefully things will get better for you. xx

I used to have lovely shiny gorgeous dark brown hair.

I now have about 1/2 of what I used to have. I'm 23. Where my bald spots are a widening middle pattern and the crown is VERY noticeable, I've had to get a side pattern now to hide all the bald bits. The doctor was useless, and told me I had male pattern baldness, nothing you can do, eat more fish, cya later!

I'm not sure what has caused mine, well I have a basic idea, but a lot of its bulk fell out after I had my daughter and never regrew, was just a lot finer, which I could deal with, but now I have the gaping scalp look :(

I suffer with bulimia though so my body is probably lacking in something

Backcombing my hair at the roots helps hide the patches and gaping scalp I seem to have, but within a few hours it falls flat and then it looks grim again.

Hair loss is horrid :(

it really is horrid isn't it. I was told once by my hairdresser that my hair looked like I was on chemotherapy it was that bad! No tips but lots of sympathy.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I have always had fine straight hair and at the moment it seems to be thinner than ever, and feels like it is breaking off, I have been very stressed lately plus I have turned 50  so wonder if this is not helping it. I got some VO5 hot oil treatment today to see if this helps. I am scared its going to all fall out especially with it being fine to start with.

Thanks.

All I've been given is Microgynon, the pill, I'm hoping for something a bit stronger after I've seen the gynae!

I always had loads of thick hair, now it's flat and my fringe just hangs down straggly! I know I'm moaning on.

After I was feeling !!!! yesterday, I called into the doctors and the receptionist said she's been meaning to stop me and say how lovely my hair is, so that cheered me up!

Hi Zoe,
After reading your post, and the couple before - just wanted to say I can really empathise with you. I've ended up in tears so many times over hair loss. The worst times for me are when I wash my hair and blow dry it in front of the mirror, before putting any concealer on - and the thinning and bald bits are right there :(

I have heard of a few women having their hair cut shorter when suffering from hair loss, but I don't really know what benefit it is to be honest, even though I have just sat and really thought about it.I guess it depends on where on your head you are thinning and if the existing length of hair is helping to cover it up.

I have inbetween shoulder and chin length hair, cut in an a-symetrical bob - and have a side parting where the heavy side of my hair covers my worst balding temple.

I don't know anything at all about polycistic ovaries (probably even spelled it wrong) but can totally empathise with the hair loss problem.

Just a teeny idea, while you are waiting for your appoitnments to come through, It might be worth trying some of the things mentioned in previous posts like vitamin b12 and L-Lynsine. My holland and barrets order came today so am cracking on with that - trying to stay postive.
