Morning all, this is the big day for my DD, good luck to everyone involved today. I for one can say it has definitely been very stressful for me and my OH as parents. Our DD is still sleeping and has had a very restful night, hopefully now she will keep her nerve.
Good luck all!0 -
DD sat the GL this morning. I think all these children are sooo brave. Well done to all!! At least we are finished now I feel so sorry for those who have still tests to do.Member of New TG Weight Loss Challenge:

Hi,
3 down 2 to go!!!!! :j My dd came out and said the maths was quite easy but the english was hard, and there was no doubt in her voice it was hard!!!! But she got both papers finished with a little time to spare. Wish it was over:(

Same here. My DS thought the Maths was very easy but thought the English was quite hard, especially the last comprehension and the spelling section. He is glad it is over and seems pleased with his performance. Shame the results come out on his birthday! He just wants a C or above so hopefully with his average marks in practice tests being aroung 65-70%, he should achieve it. Not sure I understand exactly how the scoring works, but last year, a child born in June scoring 66% got an A and a child scoring 70% and with an August birthday got a B10

RED ALERT EVERYONE
The Belfast Telegraph published a detailed article in this mornings paper giving all the highest and lowest grades/scores accepted for entry to all NI grammar schools in September 2011. It is a very useful guide for all interested parents. If you didn't manage to get the paper I'm sure it will appear on their website as is did last year.
Good luck for this Saturday and next.0 -
Had a look at belfast telegraph's site but no table of results on it yet, just an article about how Grammars are taking low grades. Hope they publish a table. I can't wait for these tests to be over as our school is acting as if they are all done and dusted and there is no more to be done, my DS is so removed now that he does not want to do any work at all and he seems to spend his school day either rehearsing for the Christmas performance or reading a book. Are all the schools doing this now?0

Hi All.
I had a son who sat the GL Assessment test last year, he was like the sample above got 70% but with an August birthday got a B1. He was not sure of getting a place and had the long wait until the end of May to know if he would get into his chosen school.
My youngest daughter sat the test last Saturday and is just glad it's all over. It is a horrible system I feel so sorry for those who are sitting both AQE and GL, when I compare the older system that my older child (3rd year) did it was so much less stressful. They just went to their own familiar primary school and with so many past papers available the teacher was able to give parents a rough idea of the childs likelihood to pass.0 -
Hi
Just to let you know the tables are in the Belfast Telegraph for the admission numbers for grammar schools. It is quire interesting and apparently they are accepting lower grades according to the paper. I will keep the article incase anyone needs to know the scores.

Hi Denise
I have tried the website and only the article has appeared, no table. Could you look up Dalriada, Coleraine High and Coleraine Inst.
Thanks0 -

Thanks
Hi beccasmum
Details quoted in the Bel Tel for these schools for entry in Sept 2011 are as follows: -
Lowest score accepted
Dalriada 94
Coleraine High 91
Coleraine Inst 66
Dalriada intake was 37 Q1s, 46 Q2s, 30 Q3s and 7 Q4s. Received 153 applications, admitted 128.
Coleraine High intake was 14 Q1s, 22 Q2s, 25 Q3s and 29 Q4s plus a further 30 pupils using non-academic criteria. Received 145 applications, admitted 120.
Colerain Inst intake was 10 Q1s, 14 Q2s, 18 Q3s, 27 Q4s and 31 Q5s plus 12 pupils who did not sit the test. It also accepted pupils using non-academis criteria. Admitted all 126 applications received.
Hope this cheers you up as it's as lot better than for the 3 grammar schools where I live, where last year's lowest accepted scores were 96, 97 & 99 with no exceptions other than a few kids with special needs.
Best of luck.0
