Well guys , here we are.
The final test is tomorrow morning. :j
Good luck and hope come February all the hard work and effort will be rewarded. :T0 -
Thank goodness that is it all over now we have to wait 9 weeks for results hopefully with Christmas coming it will go in quickly. My ds found todays transfer test to be the easiest out of the 3 of them, but sometimes when he says it was easy he makes silly mistakes.
Anybody know what Banbridge Academy intake results were??0 -
I echo the relief that it is all over. My dd found today's the toughest of the 3;) just goes to show they probably have good and bad days0

My brother found the first test the easiest, second the hardiest and third it was easier than the second. Just the long wait to the results now but at least its all over

Those numbers for RBAI look very suspect. How could they be so oversubscribed yet still admit so many from the lower quartiles? The only explanation could be that they are using non-academic criteria such as potential ability at rugby.0 -
Hi 36square
Just checked those figures again and they are as printed in the Belfast Telegraph. It does say they did not use scores they used quintiles/bands. Maybe there were only 22 in Q1 applied, there is also a quintile 5, maybe the scores just were not high, not sure how it works to be honest.

Intake was 53 Q1s, 67 Q2s, 52 Q3s & 10 Q4s.
Applications 218. Admitted 187.
Good luck0 -

RBAI's entrance criteria is the score obtained in AQE and nothing else. It can take in more Q4s than most Belfast grammars because it is a single sex school with a large no. of places (just like Victoria College). Both schools traditionally took in more Bs than As and also took in some Cs. Hence for kids who didn't make it into their 1st or 2nd choice schools, these schools were still a possibility and that remains the case. Another thing which puts people off choosing these schools as 1st or 2nd choice is the fees (both charge approx £850 p.a.). RBAIs intake last year was approx 54 As & 96 B/Cs and this year it was approx 40 As & 110 B/Cs. AQE announced last yr that a score of around 105 and above was equivalent to an A (hence Quintiles 1 & 2 are As) and Quintiles 3 and 4 are Bi1, B2s with some Cs at the bottom of Q4. So when we see grammars taking in Q4s, these are more likely to be Bs than Cs. Many have said that AQE should never have published quintiles (along with scores) as they have caused a great deal of confusion and bear no resemblance to the 11+ bands.0
