Is it just the PiE and PiM that they use? Do they use the verbal reasoning, mental maths, suffolk reading or spelling? Or is that just used by some schools?Stercus accidit0 -
A strategy you could use is look at the comparison between your child's SATs and the class average and ask the teacher for the AQE class average (hopefully they have it) and your child's score. If your child has fallen below the AQE class average but is above the SATs class average then you would have some measurable evidence for a drop off in his results.2014 reach my best.0

I reckon they'd supply the average to you if you asked. That wouldn't break data protection rules to the same extent as supplying individual pupil's data.Stercus accidit0 -

Data protection only applies to personally identifiable data, not stats. The exception would be if the sample size was small enough that you could work out something about an individual from the average...
More importantly, if the school holds data about your child (including details like like their ranking within the class, results in tests etc), they have to be prepared to cough it up under the data protection act.0 -
Leftie, I'm not going to pretend to know what you are talking about, my head is spinning just reading it. :rotfl:
However if its of any use, my child's P5 teacher said that kids with 115 or above are the ones who are likely to get a good AQE score. My child is sitting on 111 so I'm happy that she isnt far off the mark. Not looking forward to P6 and P7 though. :eek:0 -

Best of luck with your appeal. It seems ridiculous that the school has acknowledged the SC but wont even allow 1 more mark. It's also interesting to hear that there are many SC cases - I have often wondered how many extra marks are given in such cases. I think the school's response to you may be a smokescreen and they are just hoping you'll give up as you may not be the only parent appealing to that school and they have to whittle down the appellants somehow. So don't give up, see this right through.0 -
PIE & PIM
I've just been reading all the posts about scores in NFER and PIM etc. and wonder can anyone tell me what my P4 child's scores in PIE (100) and PIM (132) suggest for his chances at AQE? Just got these scores in end of year report last week and its the 1st time the school has used PIE and PIM and given out the scores in reports. Thanks0
