  • need to read it again but i think it was that the evidence - his end of year scores from p3 upward seemed in line with the score he got. but those were gl assessments and were higher in p5,6 and not yet avail in p7... so how are we to know how these relate to an aqe score??
his report is now in...fantastic. and i'm not boasting... he's done so well, level 5 in everything and every comment positive.

  • letter in from school to outline their decision. agree there were special circ but disagree he would have scored higher without these???

    Whats the next step?

  • Considering they have accepted there were sc i dont see how they can then say that an adjustment couldnt be made....roll on appeal!!
  • they actually allowed lots of others to get extra marks...included numbers and scores before and after adjustment for all those who applied for special circ and special provisions ... all anonomised of course.

  • Were there many that applied for sc? Do they give many extra marks?
  • yes and yes

When do people start getting tutors. ddd is just finishing p5 so stil another year to go before p7 but im just wondering when those who get tutors start

After talking to other parents I'm thinking of next Easter (of P6) for a tutor if required although I'm going to try and tutor her myself.

Has anyone any idea how the tests they do in P5 relate to outcomes in the transfer tests?

Hi there I found a very useful website called windmill press. I believed the papers to be very accurate in comparison to how she scored on the actual day. My daughter got an excellent A grade and this is what we used. Much better than any papers available from high street stores such as easons. We bought a few from there in the beginning but when we discovered windmill we never looked back. They cater for both gl and aqe. :)

It depends on what you mean. The scores in practice bear little relation to the actual scores from the tests, because of the way they massage the figures. But the performance relative to the year group should be similar.
