I have 2 sons that go to Wellington and both love the school. The school is quite small compared to others and there is a real 'family' atmosphere in the school. Teachers are excellent and a friend of my elder son moved to another school this year and is hating it, they said that the Wellington teachers are much better and treat the kids better. Mr Simon's taught me when I was there and has hardly aged in over 20yrs. Your son will enjoy the school, we have no complaints whatsoever.
Hinchboy .....are u MR Simons Lol only kidding!!!!!
I agree 100 percent,a smaller school environment is such a bonus for kids!0 -
thanks HINCHBOY.
Our eldest attended GGS and we have a lot of faith in the quality of teaching; the schools openness and the great opportunities it offers. I'm glad you are so positive about WCB, we have it all to find out for ourselves but first impressions were not great for us. It was 3rd choice school and it's hard to settle for it when we know we only a whisker away from 1st choice. However we will help our ds look positively on it - just not quite there yet. Roll on appeal!2014 reach my best.0 -
Hey has anyone any information on the assessment units that were carried out in May? Is it common for kids to achieve a level 5 in both maths and English?0

It's not unusual. The school should give you a break down of what percentage of kids in the school got each level. Last year 50% of my dd's class got a 5 in Maths and 62% got a 5 in English (or perhaps the other way around)Still, you can't get any higher than 2 fives so well done to your child.0 -

About 3/4 of my DS's class got level 5 in both English and Maths. The school should provide you with a printout of the percentage of each level achieved.0 -
Thanks everyone! Just realised an extra sheet was in the envelope!0

Like comparing his test results with his pre-test standing in class...
If not then it's just smoke screen: a "go away" kind of message.0
