Dishonest BroadBand?

Why are all the experts pushing Plusnet? They advertise stand alone Broadband at £6.49. I spoke to one of their salesmen yesterday via their chat function. He stated you cannot have Broadband without a Land Line phone contract. So their web site is miss leading. The Broadband is not stand alone and will cost at least £18.48 if you take their phone and they wanted £49.99 for the priveledge of switching.

From the main page of their website, hardly dishonest or misleading, you do not have to have your phone contract with Plusnet :-
Get broadband on its own for just £6.49 a month
(You'll also need a BT or similar phone line)

What they state is correct, you can get Plusnet Broadband for £6.49. However it'll be delivered over a BT phoneline, which does incur a line rental charge.

That's how it has always been. I used to get O2 Broadband for £7.50 because I was a customer. But I still had to pay BT a line rental. I'm with Sky now, and pay them £7.50 for broadband. But still need to pay them £12.50 for line rental.

This must be a really dangerous place then....
  • Its very dishonest and missleading the broadband is not £6.49 / month. Its £6.49 plus your line rental. Had flyer from Virgin today advertising half price broadband for six months. Over the 12 month contract it actually works out to around £24 / Month which is more than their current monthly tarrif of £21.40. If this is not dishonest at the very least it annoys the customers they pretend to be kings.

But it doesn't say you will need a Land Line phone contract and you will have to pay Line Rental for that contract. Was advised by many friends that they assumed the phone line could be activated for broadband without having a Land Line phone contract.

There is nothing dishonest or misleading about it that is how much the stand alone broadband costs.

What do you think this means, it plainly states you need a BT or similar phone line, do you think that is free.

They assumed wrongly, as already stated here:-

Every ISP states the cost of their broadband excluding the line rental, Plusnet are no different, and all broadband apart from mobile and cable needs a working phone line.
