Not enough people are reporting it to the General Dental Council.

Email this address to report it.

They pay more attention to members of the public reporting these places than they do if dentists do it!

    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Professional ? Illegal, potentially dangerous both to dental and general health. It is NOT a dental hygienist doing the treatment, you have been misled, it is an unqualified beautician, a dental hygienist would be struck off the GDC register if they performed this treatment without the direct prescription and prior examination by a dentist. Read this ad for a beautician to work at pearl. No dental knowledge necessary!! http://jobhits.co.uk/view-job/beauty-therapist/muxha.html

.Read details of a recent prosecution http://www.dentistry.co.uk/news/news_detail.php?id=4746

Of course there is a big difference to a dentist examining you , assessing your dental health, using a variety of techniques to whiten teeth, monitoring your progress over weeks , using a laboratory to make trays and using legally obtained chemicals, in a surgery with cross infection protocols, emergency drug kits etc and a beautician in a salon or office using illegally sourced chemicals in an illegal proceedure . There has been litigation including a lady whose asthma was made permanently worse by illegal whitening, to people who "just" suffered permanent tooth damage.

  • I had my teeth done by this company and thought it was good value for money (especially compared to the 350£ my dentist wanted). Hurt abit ( but was told this is normal) and since had it done no problems and teeth are much whiter.

I am sure some people dont get good service etc (as with any company, try getting through to bt to complain) but not sure you should listen to an ex employee!

My experience with them was good

I had gotten a Groupon Voucher for xmas for teeth whitening. After speaking to my mother about getting my teeth done, since I need to have a bridge done to the front off it, from a injury I took.

My local dentist said it'll cost me £230 for the whitening, but she would do me a deal for £200, since I was on income support. So I was thinking about that deal for a while.
Then I got the voucher of my mother for Xmas, she thought it would be a great gift. The intentions of the voucher was meaningful, but the reality of it wasn't.

I also recieved a paintballing voucher. So they both had dates that would run out soon, so I decided to check the dates today after leaving it a good 2 months (wasn't that interested in the vouchers as of late).
So I saw my PearlNational voucher was running out in April, then I noticed the price. Saying it was £350. So I was curious on how much the voucher cost. Saw it was under £100 (£69), and was a little worried on why. I didn't want my teeth to be whitend by someone who had no experience, and then be left with bad teeth.

So I searched on Google "Pearl National teeth review" and the second result caught my eye, being this topic. So after reading through this, then checking up the London branch of Pearl National, it turns out that the building they claim to be in, is a place I've skated past. Where it's all suits and business work.

So I looked about more, and then felt that it was unsafe to use, so I had spoken to my mother about it, and she rang up Groupon, and within 2-3 mins they apologised, and offered a refund or a new voucher for the same price to something else.

They explained that many people have rang up about this Pearl National Teeth Whitening, and that they need to have it checked into to see if it's a scam. But for the meantime they are giving people their money back if they aren't happy using the voucher.

So if you got the voucher and got no results from making any appointments, or feeling that it's a wrong buy, ring up Groupon for a refund.

Maybe if you didn't name individuals, the post wouldn't be deleted?

Naming names opens up the spectre of lible.

It is illegal for a dentist to work anywhere without having their name,GDC number and date and place of qualification available for people to check.

Not only that but if there is a website it MUST contain these details and the address of the GDC to check qualifications.

It is illegal for anyone other than a dentist to assess someone as healthy enough to have one of these treatments and either they or a qualified hygienist/ therapist working to a dentists prescription to carry out treatment.

Hygienists and therapists also are registered and their qualifications can also be checked on the GDC site.

It is a criminal offence for someone to pass themselves off as a dentist, hygienist or dental therapist without being registered with the GDC. To report go to the GDC website http://www.gdc-uk.org/Newsandpublications/publications/Publications/GDC_Tooth_whitening_leaflet%20(2).pdf
The link contains useful questions people should ask before letting anyone do a potentially damaging proceedure on a delicate part of your body.
  • Just to let everyone know not to buy the 'Pro teeth' teeth whitening deal if it comes on Groupon again. They have salons nationwide but the worst customer service i have come across and it seems a 'cant be bothered' attitude to you if you try and book with a Groupon voucher. I had my appointment booked for 6 weeks, and they cancelled 2 days before with a bad excuse of a new person starting who couldnt start until the week after!! No apology, i think they just had a full price booking come in.
Dont waste your time and money with Pro Teeth!!
