There are different ways to play this. Now that your bf knows that Link ATM access is blocked is it a significant inconvenience? If so for what reasons?

Tactically I would "set a trap" for Natwest by making an online application (I take it your bf is registered for online banking?) for a Select account, the fee-free one i.e. not Silver. Make sure that a chequebook and overdraft is not requested. See what happens. Let the outcome determine the next step.

Seperately I would advise your bf to investigate why the notifications were apparently not received. Maybe there an address issue. Are statements being received OK. To the correct address?

thank you for your reply. He will be going into the branch tomorrow to discuss with someone there. if he gets no joy from this I will certainly put your suggestion to him.

Can i just say that the point I was making is that 1. he was not informed and, 2. when he telephoned natwest they tried to push him into taking out an account that charges a fee and offered no alternatives.

he has no credit issues as he does not like credit so never uses it and he is not someone who is disabled and trying to get sympathy (though why someone would make a low comment like that I do not know).

I don't really care whether you've got one leg and no eyes etc to be honest or even paralysised from the waist down.

What im saying is the advisor is totally incorrect. Just because you do not have statements it does not stop you from receiving mailings. I don't receive statements and I still got the letter.... I was just about to post it online actually when I can work out how to do it..

I suspect you was being told this to either shut you up (not in a bad way) or to tell you something you think you may of wanted to hear.

I shall investigate and raise this within the business as its utter non sense hense asking the persons name. However I shall ensure a comms bulletin is communicated at some point tomorrow.

The amount of letters/junk I get in statements you think I ever take any notice of them???

I will be calling the bank tomorrow, and i will check again about what i was told today, not being funny but if my bank tells me something on the phone with it being recorded i would hope they were telling the truth, pretty stupid to lie after telling me they were recording the call don't you think. And seeing as he also didnt say that the select silver had a monthly charge i want to double check that too. Because if it does have a monthly charge and he neglected to tell me.. someone is in trouble, I will tell them about you on here on MSE if they claim they are right.

better yet, if you have access to a printer or know someone who can print for you, why not print the relevant posts and take it with you just in case.

Yeah give them a call and say just because I don't receive paper statements will it stop me from getting mailing regarding changes to my account and let me know what they say?

Also the natwest select silver is £8.00 per month. Its only the Select account which is FREE.

Unless there is a separate agreement due to your circumstances which I very much doubt to be honest.

Just spoke to the bank and asked if there was a monthly charge and the lady said yeah £8.99 i think.

the department i spoke to earlier are not there now until first thing, but i told her that throughout the conversation no montly charge was mentioned, she did say perhaps they have wavered it, i said thats a point but would assume they would of said this.. banks do like to make it known to you when they are doing you a favour.

she did confirm that she herself was paperfree and did get a letter...

You see im not having a go I just want to ensure you are given the correct information.

They may have waived the fee but I doubt they would do that, they would have just upgraded you to the select where its free anyway.

Do you love me again now :rotfl:
