You are still signed is as your bro - P'raps better to sign out and back in as yourself?

Could you not talk to your brother, Matt? He would be a useful bridge between you and your parents?

And I'll post the message up on my account now :o
GP? Love to you all xxx

Hi, thanks for the 2 very kind responses. I certainly don't have any history of depression...I mean I'm only 18....I go to a Grammar school....get excellent results....have lot of nice friends etc....it's just that the loss of my uni place really hit me hard. I took it so badly....(it was a top 5 uni so I'm sure you can understand). I've now secured a very good offer at a top 3 uni...rejected by Oxford after interview but what the heck :p Anyway, I certain'y feel I'm on my way back....I just don't talk to my parents as much as I used to...I spend a lot of time on the net...they think I'm an internet addict

I don't mind seeking help....I mean it can only be of benefit right? It's just the way this has happened to me today...just ridiuculous. Then hearing a person I have never met before talking about me as some kind of lunatic just got on my nerves....now he has all these rights to do stuff...I just feel powerless.

Btw, I mentioned I also posted on another forum....perhas some of you may be interested to follow my thread over there as well:

Sorry, but I really can't not reply to this post. Are you thus implying that all of us can't be bothered to do anything about our mental illness?no If this was a miracle cure all, don't you think all our doctors would be suggesting it?

'You know that it works' you need to add 'for me' at the end of that sentence.i was talking about me Mental illness is different in each person that suffers and as such no one method is going to cure everyone's depression. I went through 4 different types of medication, all of which will have worked for some people, until I found the one that worked for me. The same thing does not work in all cases.

I am pleased, particularly if you have been suffering with mental illness, that you have found something that works for you. And yes, it is worth 'suggesting' it to others as a method to consider, but I think your attitude that if we don't do it we are not prepared to go to 'any lengths' to help ourselves is disgusting.

Also please don't suggest to people that meds don't work, you are then encouraging people who are easily influenced to stop taking their medication, which is very dangerous. Doctor's put us on our medication for a reason.

This thread is a place for us to Support each other through this horrible illness and your attitude is hardly 'supportive'.

Sorry, rant over, but I really couldn't let this pass.

Doctors never sugested it to me either because they are not trained in anything non medical, are they? i belive the soultion is best tought by someone who has been there and knows the way out. i agree that all mentall heatlh issues are different which is why i thought a different solution might be worth suggesting.

I was talking about myself i thought i had put that. but i do stand by the the main part of the program is that you have to be prepared to go to any lenghts. i was not impliing that people who don't do this are not doing that. and im sorry if you felt it did but how you preceve things is not my stuff it's yours.

I posted it as i've said before because i know it works. and i was saying med's didn't work for me. it was not a suggestion that they don't work at all. i didnt come here to start anything like this i found something that worked and thought i'd pass it on.
If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.

:hello: Ethel, I am OK. I went into town today and bought a few tops, pyjamas, necklace and bracelet. I saw so many clothes that I liked. Why is everything so expensive :( My bargain of the day was a Jane Norman jumper. I had been watching one on eBay and it went up to £26ish so left it as originally they are were only £35 brand new. Anyway, went into Jane Norman and they had that same jumper reduced from £35 to £10.50 :) so I was v.happy.

I didn't stay in town long. Just went to 3 or 4 shops and had to go back home. I couldn't take it anymore.

I'm glad the hair straightening went well :) was it difficult to do?

You've definately been pampering yourself today haven't you :D do you feel better for it? You definately deserve it though hun :)

Have you still got more Boots vouchers to spend?

oooh teeth bleaching. Have you done that before? I've got some whitening toothpaste from boots (cost about £9) but I don't know if it makes any difference. I did buy a whitening pen thing that you painted onto your teeth but it was too much messing about so gave up with that lol

No, all me vouchers are gone now, lol

I've never been into jane norman.. you got a billy bargain there :D

I got some stuff off the internet - it was a free sample but there's a lot of it. Toothsmith would be horrified at me cos it was in a thread on the health board that I saw it, lol

I'm very conscious of my teeth cos I drink gallons of coffee and I smoke too :o but this stuff has to stay on for 30 mins and i never keep quiet that long, lol. I've had the stuff from boots and the pen and all that and they dont seem to do much - apparenlty the concentration is too low.. but I do brush my teeth 2-3 times a day and use lots of mouthwash too.

spose it's better than just being a face in a crowd.....;) i think sometimes it's best to go against the grain. as it provokes thought-sometimes- other times just raw hate.

 lets hope Toothsmith doesn't venture in here then lol :D Be careful with it though. You don't want all your teeth falling out or anything else nasty happening.

Let us know what it's like when you've done it.
