CCStar, At 19 you shouldn't have to support your son. What is stopping him from getting a job?

flis21, Did you have suicidal thoughts prior to taking anti-depressants or is it since you've been on them? What anti-depressants do you take?

    Absolutely nothing

He has had a car for two years so no excuse

I have felt really angry with him and his laziness then spending his life savings and my OH shouts at me for being upset, yet does nothing about it either
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:
I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.

    Evening everyone..

    interesting meeting

    options are

    1. a return to the place she just came out of.. not viable unless she has a period of living independently.

    2. section 3 for 6 months to a very secure unit.. will be done with no hesitation if consultant feels she is at risk.

    3. assisted living.. small flat with a permanent helper/assistant - unlikely because of how erratic she is.

    4. a day care centre.. not ideal because its not residential

    5. a residential place in east sussex.. looks gorgeous from the brochure, again part of the priory group, very expensive, even more than where she is now and funding will be an issue.. social services and pct will have to collaborate on the funding.. - this is the place her consultant recommends and said if she was his daughter, this is where he'd want her to be treated. I just hope his word carries some weight where it counts now.

For now, so long as she doesn't endanger herself or others she can stay where she is for a maximum of 2 months.. any problems and she'll be sectioned for 6 months to a very secure unit

so for now anyway.. its just a matter of waiting and hoping for the best.

while I was writing this.. I had a phone call to say she's done a runner...so now gawd knows what will happen.

To those of you who feel suicidal, please think again... if you succeed, you will cause so much pain and heartache to so many people, and if you don't succeed, you could end up in a similar situation to my daughter.. either way it's not good.

That is why I won't do it, as I said in my original post. It is the thought of what it would do to my OH and my Mum that stops me from doing it. They are the only people who keep me going. I don't really want to talk to them about it tho, as I know neither of them would really understand how I am feeling. My Mum can't cope with my depression at all and thinks I can just pull myself out of it if I want. My OH tries to be a bit more supportive, but he still finds the whole thing very difficult to understand. Maybe I will go and see my doctor on Wednesday (can't go tomorrow as am going to hospital to have cast off! Yipee!). Talk to him, but I am worried all he will say is make sure you take your tablets everyday.

P.S. Yes I have taken it today!!

Its so hard for other people to cope with depression, I hate the " snap out of it " ideas some people have- but i suppose it must be hard for them to understand. However its so hard for us trying to talk- but not wanting to upset people. Could you ask to be referred to a counsellor or mental health nurse ? I used to have a nurse and she was great- even helped me get a house when things were so tough. I have now stayed here 7 years and its been the one thing I have held on to. About the first time I got specal browny points for being depreseed !
However usually if you can talk about sucidal ideas then chances of actually doing it are slim. Its just the big black hole we sometimes slip into.
razorbladekisses I take your point about the anti depressants a few of them are prone to promoting sucidial thoughts.

I have been on them so long I can hardly remember! Think I had some suicidal thoughts before tho. Why do you think the tablets could be causing them? I am on Citalopram, 20mg a day.

I find it really hard with my family. I love them so much, I don't want to upset them by telling them a lot of what goes on in my head. I might talk to my doctor on Wednesday about getting someone to talk to, either that or maybe I could phone the samaritans. Never done that before, do you think they could help?
