    Unusual that they didn't send you a reminder, since they normally do when the SORN or tax is about to expire.

    So where do I stand why didn't I get one - from email sorn ran out 31st october -
    I suppose it would be wise to renew the sorn today

    It doesn't really matter though, since it is your responsibility to make sure tax/SORN is up to date. Besides, the DVLA doesn't make mistakes, therefore it must be your fault... Renewing the SORN would be a good idea, but it might be an idea to do it by form, rather than net. Then you can backdate the form, and then claim the post is at fault...

    A year later and we have no more info whether the case has been accepted by the high court.

    Just on holiday have noticed I am 7 days late with Car tax disk. Have paid on line and waiting for disk to come. I am expecting a fine! :)

    Turn yourself in to the police - they may take it into account when deciding how much to fine you.
