    Oh and.....

I freeze any spare pasta and rice portions (whether leftover dinners or I just cooked too much of the plain stuff pre-mixing with veg and meat)

This is going to sound manky...... my little boy's wet wipes... after I'washed his face I often wipe round the bathroom sink or something before lobbing in the bin :o

glad you said face there!!! :D
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Those little bags you get in boxes of washing powder tablets are great for cramming a nice pair of smalls in or tights and then they wash just as well but without risk of snagging - also good for socks....... when I clean the leather sofas with the wipes I then go around the room wiping all the glass of the paintings we've got and light fittings and tv screen. used tumble dryer sheets - if you use them - are good at wiping tv screens too apparently.
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

This may sound a little squalid, but I'll use the socks that are in the dirty clothes basket to do the dusting (but don't tell my OH)...

Didn't know you could freeze wine - although there's never any left over at mine anyway;)

Oh lord, yes, and coconut milk, passata, as well as leftovers from jars of pesto, chillies, lemon grass, ginger - anything that says it goes off in a few days to a month, I bung into icecube trays to freeze.

Good idea, especially as they're going to be washed anyway

... in my house I'd end up leaving a faint wiff of cheese as I went :rotfl:

I bob the tops of leeks, celery, the stalks from brocolli and cauliflower etc into bags into the freezer. When I have enough I through them into a pan with some scrubbed potato skins, carrots and anything else going, top up with boullin stock, mixed herbs and a couple of handfuls of barley and lentil. Simmmer away for 20 minutes, blitz with a hand blender and voila a good thick veggie soup made from the bits most people throw away. Great with Irish Soda bread.:D

Me too......... far too much good food is thrown away IMHO.

When I worked in an office the youngsters would look at best by date on food that they had in the fridge and throw it out if it was 'old'. This was not only for yoghurts and sandwiches, it was packs of cherry toms, apples etc!!!

I confess that I occasionally resorted to 'rescuing' some of these things.

We have always used all the left overs from Sunday lunch to make 'Roast Dinner Soup' it really does work! Even Yorkshire puddings!
I always make too much soup in the slow cooker for one day, then use it as stock (after re boiling it of course!) for chicken pieces or sausages etc and the reboiled soup makes fantastic sauce.
"Roast Dinner Soup", What a great idea! Guess what we're having for lunch tomorrow. :rotfl:

I know, I said in a previous post that we have very little leftovers, but Sunday is different. Depends how many actually turn up!
