make some pancakes. then use the pancakes like wraps.

put a small amount in each pancake, wrap up and lay in an oven safe dish. the cover in loads of grated cheese. cook till cheese melted and just golden.

the pancakes make even a small amount of chilli very filling.
  • Add a can of beans or a mug of sweetcorn to the leftovers. Top with potato mash or sweet potato mash and cheese and serve it up as chili pie.

I have starting making Chilli Quesadilla's with my leftover chilli.

Spread chill over tortilla - grated cheese on top. Top with another tortilla and warm though in frying pan (both sides). I find they are very filling.

  • I've been having a sort out in my store cupboard and found and unopened bag of Fine Cornmeal dated Oct 2007. Is this likely to be still useable or should I give my worms a bit of a treat? I know they love cornmeal.
  • Apologise if someone's already mentioned this - have not yet read all 119 pages(!) - one thing I have found for making veg in your salad drawers last longer in good condition is to put a folded newspaper in the bottom - the free/tabloid size fits mine perfectly - absorbs excess moisture - have seen special sponge cushions for sale but newspaper does the same job for free - I take almost all bought veg out of their plastic bags and put them directly in the drawer. I replace the paper every week or so and just compost it - if you have a worm bin, worms love the damp paper torn into strips as bedding/food.

Not leftovers as such, but the peelings and core from apples used to make a crumble can be cooked down in a little water and used to make a jelly which if you add some chopped mint to is the same as the bought version for with lamb.
